  1. Just curious as to how the hunting has been across the country last season. And if anyone can recall they're best days hunting from last season and why? ATB
  2. thats what i used and i also put wound powder on the mange area, its lucky here in england we not likely to get sarcoptic mange, thats the bad one Sarcoptic mange is the one your dogs get from foxes mate, its rife in England? Demodectic mange is passed from the bitch to her pups and after flairing at first ussually lies dormant until the infected dog is under stress, whelping for eg. When i worked terriers regularly i had a 45 gallon drum with a lid,and used sheep dip watered down twice the recommended dose for sheep,i would dip the dogs a couple of times each season and never ha
  3. Advocate mate, been using it for over a year now because as said it treats all parasites, cleared my mates bitch who had mange in no time. and easy to use, its just like using spot on, just sqeeze it at the back of the neck. Any decent vet should of recomended this product for you mate.
  4. Im not fond on showing young dogs stops ends, First thing they learn from that is pain could spoil a young dog i think. I prefere to let them find themselfs when their ready and then they can learn how to work their quarry. If i were going to show a young dog a stop end it would be from behind a fork so you can have a bit more control to whats going on and keep the young dog keen. Some may argue with this and say all good dogs will go but every dog is different and some come on quicker than others. This is just how i prefer to do things, each to thier own though.
  5. Ive seen blisters like those on pups before and young dogs. It was stingy nettles that were causing them i think because they always seemed to develope after walks along the canal bank where there were lots of big patchs of nettles. As they got older they didnt seem to get them. I think its because the skin on young pups is a bit sensitive perhaps.
  6. that looks a nice strong russle there mate, does it work below ground?
  7. My deepest last season was 3.6 meters on the b&f to a big fellow. First metere or so was easy enough then hit hard shale then a sort of iron stone. The bitch did well. I have pics but dont know how to get them on. Had a bad run last season of deep and difficult digs. Had my little bitch in on a place that was relitivly small only 3 holes. Got a mark at 1.8, took off the top then hit solid slate. The slate shelf was about 8-9 inches thick and was a real b**stad to get through, got the bitch out after a few hours with a big un in the stop end.
  8. Ill never buy a dog in again, i dont agree with the price tags people are puting on them. Ive alway though that a small fee for the food, wormers, jab ect was fair play. But 500 notes for a terrier and then find that it aint come to nothing is heart breaking. Im lucky that i got plenty of mates in the game so we use each others dogs and bitches for planned mating when pups are required to carry on the lines.
  9. all the best with finding your dog mate,
  10. Just registered with your bulliez forum mate, looking forward to getting on there pal.
  11. Doesnt some of nuttels breeding have white on their chest. Nice strong pup mate, atb with him.
  12. Whats the point of being on here then mate, to talk about the soaps on the TV. Its a working dog forum used to meet like minded people and to disscuss dogs of other peoples interest.
  13. Get some kickers welded to the top of the pan mate if your getting a bulldog shovel helps to prevent smashing in your boots if your going to do alot of digging.
  14. Ive seen hard russles and dug over them. But i think a good small russle would suit you better for just bolting foxes mate. Not to mention the heavy price tag the lakelands are fetching. ATB
  15. carcking pics mate, looks good country too
  16. Didnt think this thread would appeal to you old dog, i was waiting for you, lol. Dont think there would be enough room for our flask and sandwitches in that motor either mate.
  17. parkers industrial supplies have got a good range of spades and bars mate.
  18. Nice bitch mate hope she goes for you. What lines she bred from mate? ATB
  19. I think sometimes patiance is important when entering young dogs, they all dont go first time out. Some are slower than other to come on. Just keep taking it out with an experianced dog coupled on the earth. The penny should drop, not saying that all will enter though. But i think too many people are in to much of a rush to enter young dogs, and get trigger happy.
  20. Id like to see a wheaton work, ive seen a few wheaton x lurchers work and the ones id seen work had alot of drive. Id be very interested to see a pure wheaton go, whether it was dug to or on the earth. Does anyone have any storys of pure wheatons working? if so what they like? ATB boys
  21. Found myself p***ing myself laughing at this thread. Personally i think if the cross is intended for bushing and cover work why not just use a 'cocker or a springer' in which these were selectively bred for. A hound is a different ball game all together. Cant see how either breed can be improved by this cross, and where do you go on the next mating from these pups. Maybe you could put one over susan boyle and improve the vocals on your hound x cockers.
  22. parkers industrial supplies mate, Got a good range of different spades and grafts.
  23. Was out walking my young russel this evening knocking about some cover for the lurcher. I could see the lurcher marking a hole under an old 20ft container. I could see the terrier taking a drag in the direction the lurcher was, he had deaf ear syndrome and failed to come back. He is only a young dog 8-9month old . By the time i got to the mark he was baying steady with the lurcher standing ready for a possible bolt. At first i thought the lurcher has perhaps run a charlie under there, but to my suprise a big black ferrel cat bolted from the side with the terrier just behind it. It tried to mak
