  3. yeah, must be something there. he even wakes me in the night sometimes grunting an whining as he is scratching so hard. maybe i'll try a different vet!
  4. heya, my dog had some real bad clogged up ears a few weeks back, which seemed to appear almost overnight. got the drops n sorted that out, no more wax since, but he literally wont stop scratching his ears, he's taken most of the fur off behind them now too and is starting to cut himself. he really dont seem comfortable at all. vet checked and reckoned there is no critters on him and gave me some stuff to put on his ears to stop the itching. it works for about half an hour and he is back on them again. any ideas? could it just be the heat???
  5. nope, dont even know anyone on here. how comes nobody will just gimme a straight forward bit of advice for the dog? i mean, even if someone pm's me with some tips id be grateful. just anything really

  8. what kinda answer is that?? yeah i got another thread about my jack cross as i want to start him too. iv only taken the lurcher off a mate as a favour as he cant look after it as he is disabled, i dint say that before as i figured you all wouldnt want a life story. im simply after some advice as i wasnt around hunting as a child and its something i want to do for both the dogs and for myself, but mainly the dogs. i dont believe couping them up in the house and them getting a run round the park is going to satisfy them. i know the guy who bred him, but he lives like 150 miles away, i
  9. hello, ive recently got a 9month old bull cross lurcher from a mate, he is stock broken and is from cracking working parents. so... how do i start him off on the lamp? just take him out by himself and see how he gets on? or take him with more experienced dogs? or is it better to try them with a ball on the lamp first so he knows the drill? cheers
  10. hey, i posted a few months ago in a different thread asking for advice but nobody replied as it is said often on here, everyone has to start somewhere and id like to take my staffy cross jack dog out for the occasional hunt. ive had him since last may when he was 18 months old, he was beaten and cut and used as a cigarette stubber by his previous owner so he hasnt been coddled at all. he is a fiesty little one. he caught a fox in a field last summer and ragged it about a bit before he let go with my calls and the fox ran off. since then his recall has been non existent so i have
  11. to be fair boys, he is just after some basic help here, we all have to start somewhere, remember there was a time where all of you didnt know what to do, ok some of you may have been little nippers at the time but some people get into it later in life. im at the same stage pretty much, im just setting out and ive found a few local lads who go out and im going with them to learn the art of terrierwork the best i can. at the moment i know zilch and like kx100 id find some basic knowledge useful
  12. wouldnt put him to earth at the moment for fear of losing him as im pretty sure he hasnt got a clue what to do. just looking for the best way to introduce him really
  13. that looks a beast of a dog justin nice dogs here, ive always been brought up on staffordshire bulls so i do have a soft spot for anything bully
  14. here's mine, i took him off a womn who was going to stab him because he belonged to her husband and he left her, spiteful cow!! anyway, he is 50/50 jack and staff his dad is a massive staff with a head more towards mastiff size so im amazed at how small he is really. ah well, he is 14 months and im just wondering really if its too late to get him working or will he have gone soft by now? he likes to have a bit of a go at other dogs like. if its not too late, whats the best way to bring him on? i know a few people who work their terriers but he is my first apart from a fell called sid viscious
