    I was just thinking (i do this occasionaly), a lot of you will be saying "I keep my rifle well oiled, that drives off the moisture", but unless you are pyhsicaly dipping the thing in oil (not a good tip), you will still get moisture where you can't see or get to, just thirty years of experiance thats all, and an after thought!

    I dont know if this has ever been mentioned before, but any way here goes :-

     

    You know the little white bags of silica gel (do not eat throw away) you get in some electrical goods, kids toys etc, well, I all ways keep a couple in my rifle sleeve, reason being they attract moisture like s**t and keep things dry. You know the story your out in the field and even if its not raining cold steel attracts moisture, you get home and clean etc, but you will never remove all the moisture.

     

    So to keep your rifle in tip top and avoid moisture just place a couple of these little silica gell bags in your rifle sleeve, if your using your rifle day in day out replace them every month or so.

     

    There you go short and sweet and maybe I have done a bit for recycling too :D

    Looks a fair piece of kit, a bit too james bond for my liking but im sure it will be a handy tool.

     

    Not too sure on the output conversion, im a yorkshireman and only good with £££'s ( how not to spend them lol)

    In response to Rhodey. Brew a cup of tea, first, because this is a mega post... :D

     

    Just what is it exactly that you're afraid of? Faith based schools have been in Britain since the beginning. I wasn't allowed to go to a Catholic school because I was christened C of E. Even now faith schools discriminate against non-believers to the point where my C of E friend has had his daughter christened Catholic to give her the best chance at schooling, because the local Catholic school has better grade averages than the local C of E school. So what has changed? Not a great deal. Someone wants to teach the Koran instead of the bible? So what? It's all the same...

     

    If muslims are taking over then why do Asians make up 5% of the population? Where is this huge invading army ready to convert us all to Sharia law and make us veil our women? Exactly... still over in the sand fighting the infidels :rolleyes:

     

    When you look at the facts you have to bear in mind that half of the Asians in Britain are Indian (and either Sikh/Hindu/None Of The Above) then why should we be afraid of a religious cult based in a dusty old book? I'll be f****d if it's going to change my daily life... why should I give these zealots even a moments thought? Give me a good reason why I should be afraid, scared or even suspicious of a very, very, very small group of people?

     

    Without trying to dig up any sectarian shit, we suffered a a period of 'trouble' for the best part of 30 years which saw numerous attacks on the British mainland... yet we didn't feel the need to send them home or become a bunch of scared rabbits frightened of anything that wears a robe. We got on with life as normal. Sure we were vigilant but we weren't a bunch of xenophobic pussies. Why has that changed? What makes them such a threat, and so much more to be scared of than the IRA? They have real and documented cases of violence against us and it dwarfs everything that these so called Islamic terrorists have ever thrown at us.

     

    Regarding the St George Flag. I don't recall any group of muslims, Islamic clerics, or ethnic minorities that have objected to the flying of our national flag. None. I do recollect alot of white, British, politicans that have made this common place, to the point of not allowing Christmas decorations in local authority buildings. That's a white thing. Not an asian one. The reality is that more of my asian customers wished me a Merry Christmas, than my white ones. They even know that I don't believe in it but they did it anyway through respect for my culture.

     

    I've spent longer than I care to mention working in and around these communities, and I don't believe for a minute that they're the demons that the media, and general ignorance, portray them to be. They get up. Go to work and pay tax and national insurance, like the rest of us. Sure they have a sub community of scum and low life but show me a white man that doesn't know a convicted burglar or heroin addict. It's no surprise that they like to live among other asians but that's how communities are formed. An ideal that the white man seems to be letting slip every single day.

     

    Scum is scum. Regardless of colour and I really don't get what everyone is so worked about. The modern definition of terrorism, is violence against civilians to achieve political or ideological objectives by creating fear. In the 30's and 40's we had the Nazis. In the 30's and 40's all the way up to the early 90's, we had the Communists. Late 60's, 70's, 80's and late 90's we had the Irish Republican movement. It just seems that now we have to invent an enemy to sell newspapers, and create paranoia. So Al Qaieda was created. A convenient term to categorise a group of mountain men who don't like westerners. Big f*****g deal. In the 80's they were called the Mujahadeen and were funded by the west against the Soviets. Funded because they didn't want the Red Army occupying their land. Today they're called Al Qaieda despite the fact they have the same people and the same figurehead. Funnily enough they don't want the westerners occupying their land either. So they've gone from freedom fighters to being terrorists. :hmm:

     

    Scared? Of a bunch of gun toting easterners? Sorry... you'll have to do better than that. If people want to be frightened of several backward countries then that's their problem. These people only have money because they found oil under hundreds of thousands of square miles of sand. This oil and now lack of supply is why we're paying £1.30, a litre, at the pumps. It's the only reason we're there... to take it and use it to fuel our needs. We send them truck loads of money yet despite this money they abuse their own people, and keep them in 3rd world conditions because of a dusty old book. With oil revenues they should be 1st world with better facilities than everyone. Instead they live in squalor and will openly stone women for anything they f*****g wish to. That doesn't even begin to sound like an army nevermind a force that can keep two entire continents in fear...

     

    Finally... sending them home. Just how exactly do you do that? What makes a terrorist and how exactly do you wish to root them out, mark them and then repatriate them to some far flung land? India is the biggest country in the British Commonwealth with 1.1billion people. Pakistan is second with 165million. Bangladesh is third with 148million. Nigeria is fourth with 137million which doubles the UK, at fifth, with around 66million. These people donated soldiers that fought against the Nazis and the Communists... where do you want to send them exactly? Why should we suddenly erase their contribution, to our deep history and development, because you don't like the colour of their skin?

     

    You'll have to forgive me here... I'm now ranting... I don't know a man, woman, or child what would ever slag off a Gurkha for their service to the Crown. Yet we wish to demonise an entire race of people because some of them read a stupid book and oppress their people. Eh? Hate the game not the player.

     

    Bottom line. There will always be people that disagree with us and want to f**k up our day to day lives. Call them what you want... I like to call them wankers, they come from all walks of life. All creeds. All colours and all persuasions. It's certainly nothing to fear, and seeing that common flu, and cars accidents, kill more British citizens, a year, then Al Qaieda or the IRA ever did I think our priorities are just a little f****d up. Actually... no. REALLY f****d up! So if you have some evidence to present, as to why I should clasp my hands over my eyes and shit my pants, then I'd really love to hear it.

    Well thanks guys, I never even thought about making traps before, with the plans and pictures submited, I think I will have a go. I'm not too bad at butchering wood so why not, will save me the bother of staking the scoundrels out for hours.

    I been up since 6am with little chap, wife got a lay in as she hungover, am now cooking sunday dinner for all, but hey I dont mind at all, I got a card and a big bottle of good brandy so I will relax this afternoon.

    Refunds on pop bottles ... we used to steal empties out the back and sell em back to the same guy for the bob deposit .. I wonder if he ever knew???
