  1. Scotland has open access so you can camp any where with out the fear of being moved on mate, as long as you leave the place as you find it, its not a problem. Thats open country though not private owned land. The highlands and Islands of Scotland is well out of the way and some great scenery, mountains, fishing etc.

I agree with Sean too though if you aint got permission its wise to leave the rifle at home, it is a fire arms charge if you get caught here without proper written permission.

  2. Been bit me self recently, and never had a reaction but this one itched and come up like a puss heah squeezed it and only clear fluid come out, so started to look up on the web what can you do or take naturally to stop mozzie's, found a site said rub vinegar on skin, probably a bit like which hazel ease's swelling and must sterialise a little, also said drink 2 table spoons of vinegar, apparently comes out when you sweat and stop mozzie's and the like, so next time i'm going out on a rummage i'll put it to the test drink it mid day to give it time to get in and out of me sysem, any one got any other thought's on natural repellents like alchol, garlic.

I used to do the vinegar drinking when I lived in holland, table spoon a day and seemed to work with mozzies, you have to keep at it though and soon get used to it, got told this by a dutch guy in the early 80's, think it does turn ya sweat acidic so stops em coming near ya. Its the only thing I have tried that works. Rubbing lemon over yaself just makes ya sticky an horrible, rather get bitten than that one

  3. You normaly can tell a tick bite, they leave their head in if not removed proplerly, we have ahd a plague of them last few years due to mild winters. Maybe horse fly, or maybe a nasty flea could have been on some thing dodgy before it started eating you. Good idea to get it checked if ya going to doc's anyway.

If you having stitches out are ya on medication ? That could combine with a bite and cause the reaction. Only guessing though mate I not a quack too but have had some weird and wonderful bites myself.

  4. Well i actually got round to cracking it after i'd shown everyone it! :11: As a few of you said there was just liquid and no yolk, and i have'nt had another like it but i have an idea that it was laid by the one i ended up necking cos it had been bullied real bad by all the others, why is it that chickens always pick on one cos now they've turned on my dolly(fave bird)she had a scrap last week where she ended up losing the top of her beak but she put up a good fight bless her,but now i'm worried about her...will her beak grow back?????

The beak will regrow but it will take a while, if she has lost a lot of her top beak she wont be able to eat/drink I dont know what you would be able to do about that, if you really want to keep her see a vet or if she starts going down hill do the right thing and put her out of her misery. You can tell chickens are on their way out when they just sit in laying position and wont move when given a gentle shove, their feathers ruffled too. Hope this helps.

  5. i thought about going running once but then i thought if i run somewhere then i'd have to run back to where i started from which is completly pointless so i might aswell stay where i am :whistling:

HAHA I used to do that walking on the beaches in de nederlands, used to walk for hours then had to walk back to the car ;)

Have to say this was taken a few months back but the only pic I can find with both together

  7. Well i only go a bit off a jog for now , but the dog likes it as well so we will both benefit

The wife takes the young dog down the beach on an evening when she not working, gives me an hours peace and them their exercise, she feels good for it.

Take it steady and just do what ya feel is comfortable for yaself, take the dogs they will love it more than you

  8. How do you know the mother doesn't know what to do with them?

She was happily watching the chickens attack them, when the ducklings were trying to run to who ever they could for warmth, they are still very unsteady on thier legs, stumbling over, and if I didn't move them, they would have been picked off quite quickly by the carions crows and magpies :(

My other ducks have been great mothers, very protective and shielding them well, but this mum was far too relaxed!

I wouldn't have taken them if I thought they weren't in any danger.

Ahhh right, I was just wondering. You did the right thing then good luck with them :D

  9. Wonder if its owt to do with hearing higher frequencies when your pre'teen? Bit like them mosqitoe things they use to disband crowds of kids!

Never heard of hearing grass growing in ye head though, a new one to me, must be my age  what does it sound like? Maybe the time I shot a fox hiding in a 12'x12' barn with a 12g ?? About three days I could hear that ringing in me head.

  10. This is one of ours from a cull in Sussex a few years ago, just left it out in the sun till it stopped stinking then drilled the back of the skull and put a loop wire through hung up with a hook then, looks cool natural. We were going to get it mounted proffesionaly but the guy showed us some and they do take a lot of the back of the skull off to mount them. Decided to just leave it as is.
