  1. im going to jump in here. the longer a jill is left in an oestral state the more vulnerable she becomes to infection.the vulva is very exposed and infection can find its way into the vulva and uterus,if she is then mated the uterine secretions become a perfect medium for the developing eggs and bacteria, you may well have a very sick jill 10 to 14 days after mating .she could develop a generalised infection and peritonitis and you could lose her. a jill left in oestrus for any lengh of time can become seriously ill you may be lucky but is it worth the risk
  2. looks like it could be a sandy ?
  3. i must admit im withjojo and droid on this one NO ferret is untamable if you lot are to weak kneed to be able to handle it give it to someone who can and give the poor sod a chance at life, you lot make me so mad playing at god, if i wanted to listen to arseholes i would fart.
  4. well done for getting her to a vet,i dont always agree with vets but sometimes its the right thing to do
  5. I was'ent saying "put them into a rescue" but to ask if a rescue centre could help you out, in raising the kitts if your unsure, they are normally run by quite dedicated people The truth of the mater is, in my opinion you should not be aloud to keep a stick insect never mind an animal with babies.Take those babies to a rescue to save them any more suffering, your only going to kill those with your bread & milk. Read a book before you get any more ferrets. well said mate
  6. have you tried putting in small cuddly toys ie teddys you can get them from charity shops for around 10p they need to be about 3-4 inches [not filled with beans] this sometimes works.
  7. you need lactose for the kits its got more nutrition tham cats milk.
  8. There isn't a 'hunting gene' any more than there's a 'rugby playing' gene or a 'bullshitting' gene in humans..... my mate works ferrets very successfully i might add and everyone is a rescued ferret so i think on this one i must agree with droid, its instinct for a ferret to hunt.
  9. been there done that jojo had a jill who got a discharge took her straight to the vets she was spayed same day and is now a healthy ferret, anyone not sure should seek vet advice luckily i knew what was wrong and acted accordingly.
  10. LOL I don't feel like a baby after a hard shift laying slabs you would be better off laying a woman lol
  11. if you have a cash problem you shouldnt have pets .they cost money lol you should always take this into account when getting any animal and be prepared .
  12. : Who the hell do you think your are? I thought you wernt anti-hunting ? Do us all a favour and get off this (let me remind you again... HUNTING website! I think I'm me, well I was when I last checked.... And I'm not anti-hunting. Not if it's done with a bit of respect for the animals involved. Which BRB patently fails to show. Get your dictionary out and look up the word 'irony' well said droid
  13. 44? sighthound your only a baby yet.
  14. i think you will find that a responcible pet owner will neuture their ferrets[its the pratts that breed]
  15. they are FERRETS NOT HUMANS IT DOESNT WORK THE SAME Id have to dis-agree there bob, one of my polecat jills, started bleeding and had a litter of six (1 dead) within a matter of hours, yet it was a week early by my dates, if the jill and hob are left together longer than a day (mine are) then when do you take a date from, when paired, when seperated, or on sighting a mating?, this could be more of us making a mistake, than the ferret birthing early if its a human error on dates then its nothing to worry about if its not human error ????????????????????
  16. if you dont know what to feed them on WHY BREED THEM ?
  17. they are FERRETS NOT HUMANS IT DOESNT WORK THE SAME
  18. Hey Scuzy..I aint looking for another debate on the matter..but dont you think she may need checking out by a vet before breeding again mate..after all she has just had a litter which all died..she may have been lacking in something then which caused the kits to die..and if she was..that situation will only have worsened... all the best someone with some sense
  19. this might seem a daft question but having never hunted and only being able to give the ferrets butchers rabbits, when you give the ferrets fresh kill is there any part that has to be removed first or do you feed it as it is? im asking this as i have a rabbit in the freezer and dont want to do it wrong
  20. reading through these post i cant see tongue in cheek remarks just downright rudeness
  21. dont you think it did good for the ferrets with ant and dec holding them surely it good ferret pr it breaks the myth apart that ferrets bite.imo thats a good thing
  22. if they are cleaned out daily they wont stink.dont you lot on here know anything?i thought this was suposed to be a site for gaining knowledge, but all i have seen up to now is 2 people getting verbal abuse, come on they dont deserve that at least the tried. what have you lot done to help ferrets and rescues? if there wernt people like these think of all the ferrets getting pts or just dumped and left to starve,
  23. i think it took a lot of bottle to do that could you? i think its has helped to get rid of the richard whitley senario of people thinking that all ferrets bite.
