  1. thanks for all the advice, think it is a case of tough shit. Just going to let it grow back in, and hope it is still healthy. Is no tpo or conservation area so no point chasing things Wouldn't want to go through courts and stuff, not my thing. Will let it grow bigger and make a point of having nothing growing over the boundary and then never have it cut again. Although the neighbour who approached me at the start is going to get a bollocking, because I told him what they could do. And he's an idiot anyway
  2. If I had a choice there is a wee river I used to fish running through a town, shopping trolley job. But it held some Huge Chub. People feeding ducks with bread. Big tench in it too, suprise for a fast flowing stream. Or the canals I started off on.
  3. Always liked the idea of marlin fishing.
  4. No fighting, was a huge tom cat. Must have been a youngish fox. Cat just chased it out of the garden. Was suprised myself tought the cat would have ran.
  5. Agree, he has made me want to start again after 10 years, but couldn't believe he said it. All countrysports should support each other as a whole. Not my ways good and yours isn't. Programme still good to watch, have it on at the minute. Think the celebrity ambassadors should be a little more thoughtful, knowing what way people and anti's will twist words.
  6. Been enjoying the fishing, but see him on bbc breakfast last week saying 9/10 coarse fish that are put back die. Lowered my opinion of him. Fancy saying something like that as a fisherman on tv, isn't going to help things if the different anglers don't support each other.
  7. Boundary just a fence, have enough trouble with bindweed as it is. haha
  8. Will look into that, I know that the council planted the trees themselves, had an apple tree too and got that chopped myself, wish I didn't now I have no trees haha
  9. Seen the other way round, big tom cat chasing a fox out the garden. fox didn't half shift too. Couldn't believe it.
  10. I don't rely on them, but they are related, and it's a small place. Have been told that it will grow back twice as hard. Inlaws took one down to the stump a few year ago and now they got two trees. Think that the course of action will be to let it grow and make sure nothing grows over boundary. looked up laws, and they have no rights over light levels etc or leaves and debris ( unless it blocks their guttering) which it doesn't. Would plant another tree bit further up the hedge to make a point but only really wanted the one tree, that was for my daughter to have a summer play house u
  11. Our last neighbour before we moved had cctv overlooking our front and back. Then showed tapes of who passed the house and when etc We were being decent and they went too far. Have looked it up and found that the law says they done wrong, and the situation would not have been touched by councils. Trouble is this neighbour is a sister to the people who I use for access to my permission, and own some of it too. It's a small village. I don't want to cause myself more trouble, but don't want to drop it.
  12. Just to make it clear. They haven't thinned it a bit. They took my roof height tree, and have left me with the trunk and nothing else. its bout 8ft high stump at the end of my garden.
  13. haven't just hung over. Would think they would have to be in the garden to cut it. Was a lovely big poplar tree, wife loved it. Garden looks terrible. Been told it will grow back, but that isn't the ppoint.
  14. Maybe some one could help me with legal points here. I had a poplar tree at the bottom of my garden, was around roof height. The neighbours at the back of me asked the man next to them to see if they could/he could trim it a bit. After he approached me I sort of left it be, he then asked me again a week later. I went to his door and said what is it they want doing, he told me they just wanted to thin it a little and maybe shorten it and lop of the overhang in their garden. I said, being neighbourly that would be ok, but don't take much of the side as the wife wants to put a wendy ho
  15. not seen any yet, I normally notice them around easter.
  16. didnt think so haha Was always only a jrt fan, but have been looking more into other breeds, mailnly from lurcher crosses and am impressed with the beddy and the wheaten. Neither one easy to come by for good ones. Taken a liking to the first cross beddy whippet for ferreting and bushing.
  17. yerr i keep ferrets,, well i have 1 lol an albino hob. if u want one i am breeding it this year wif another albino if you want one? Bit to far to transport ferrets for me, as soon as its ferreting time again get the dog out with em, bolting to nets. Got the whole summer to train the dog and get it fit and ready. Trying myself to get some ratting done this summer, farmers not been obliging yet though.
  18. Are decent bred beddies easy to come by? Have a terrier spaniel and I never thought to see the dam at the time, but the dog looks a lot like yours, only springerish too. Good enough bitch but no pace.
  19. Do you keep ferrets too? Breaking is just having the dog calm and happy to work along side the ferret and not see it as quarry. Dog should work cover as soon as it cottons on there is stuff in bushes and gets used to scent then you'll be flying. Just get your dog onto land with rabbits and let it use its head, will figure it out.
  20. nice looking dog, whats it's breeding? Where abouts are you in antrim, handy too know where ferreting boys are.
  21. I use a wee jrt 10", and she is a handy dog. Marks, is great with ferrets, will hold rabbits in net ( as best she can ) , if somethings going on below ground she will react in the same spot above ground. Although if things are slow she will bugger off on her own or go and kip in the net bag. Really handy in hedgerow buries. May have to stop her though as she has started going down holes, give her a chance on other things and if she don't take, keep her too ferrets and bushing. Been training my other bushing dog up for ferreting, Terrierxspaniel, good nose, steady, but no speed. Longer
  22. Great that she doing well. Is your mate still happy with her? The dam was a big bitch, wheaten cross 26"ish. The sire was a bull cross about the same size she was. Don't have a number, am happy enough with the dog, bought it as being terrier, with a bit of spaniel, but is a first cross. Got her when I didn't really know what was what with dogs. Not that I do now though. Actually a really handy dog, obedient and so easy to train. Will lift sitters in long grass and retrieve well. Will try and put pictures up later. Think I would say though that a 3/4 terrier spaniel would be eas
  23. no body use them then? what about other crosses?
  24. I have a terrier spaniel cross for bushing. Don't know what the terrier is cos I ended up talking to the breeder about lurchers and fogot to see the bitch, Stupid. Am happy with the bitch, but every now and then I wonder about the parentage. Have been told it could be this that and the other, but am leaning towards beddy blood. Does anyone have any pics of this kind of mix? She is a black and hairy coated.
