  1. Read both books both are really good reads and Johns book must clearly rate as a 'must have' reckon John Darling is responsible for the near legendary status of the HW80, that venom tuned rifle of his sure looks the bizz
  2. has anyone noticed the stronger influence of wind on a lighter .177 pellet over a .22 or does the wind have such a slight effect that the difference between calibres when wind is a factor is to all intents just theoretical or so marginal as to make no practical difference cheers Dave

  4. it annoys me when i see further legislation either proposed or being brought into place to basically paper over the main issue which as usual goes unadressed if you carry a knife are you going to stab someone with it ?, if you carry a rifle are you going to shoot someone with it ? it is not ownership of the knife or the gun that is at issue it is what goes on inside the head of the person who is carrying it, it is what would make a person want to take a human life for absolutley no reason that is the issue, and politicans will always take the easy way out and pacify UK voters by introducing
  5. Excuse my ignorance on testing air rifles for ft/lb but as a legal point when the law test your rifle for power do they use whatever pellets they feel like using to test the rifles output or are they legally bound to use the pellets that you have been using with the rifle at the time they request a test from you i have heard both scenarios but am unsure which is correct all the best Dave

  9. Hi Fillythebish, i am looking to get my first air rifle and was considering a Weirauch HW97 but was also interested in the gas ram principal that Weirauch have used in their HW90, as an owner of an HW90 would you say that the trigger mech is stiffer than a conventional springer as i have heard that Weirauch had interface issues with their famous smooth trigger mech when matching it to the Theoben gas ram many thanks Fin and fur

  11. that happened near to us aswell...........at a private trout fishery.........4 antis dressed up like the milk tray man ( james bond/SAS, for younger veiwers) snapped a LADIES rod and threw her in.........and vandalised all the cars in the car park....................poor cow was on a sporting ticket, catch and release!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember that story well it hit the national angling press at the time, apparently they had gone to disrupt a shoot which had been called off and having nothing else to do and no point whatsoever to make they descended on a fishery local to the sh
  12. it is interesting to see a change in the tactics used by the 'antis' to stop us from having our fun, this time its health and safety, prior to this they were using the tax laws to hassle shoots who employed beaters and casual part timers without regestering them for income tax & ni purposes, gone are the days when they just turned up and ran riot
