    Not planning on breeding my hob and it would be easier if I could leave him in the court all year round. Would castrating my hob affect the way he works?

    Keep away from supermarket dog food such as bakers etc which are expensive and crap. gain 28,red mills or any working foods are the best feeds. We often add tripe or chicken mince to increase the protein content

    There was a litter bred around where I live a few years back and two lads in the village have a dog each. They look alright and one of them was used for lamping but I dunno how good it was. It was highly strung though

    I always found that some are good enough at around 6 month (first season) however by about 18 month they have matured and work much better in there second season

    Last year due to new commitments I decided to give four of my ferrets away to a lad off here, which left me with 3 ferrets. A 6 year old jill and her two daughters which were 4 years old. The mother and one of the daughters work excellent. Very tame and good around the nets. Best jills I have ever had. The other jill I only got in January 2013 off a friend which had to move away. This ferret was injured when she was young and does not work. Last week I noticed the mother ferret which is now 7 began to lose weight and her fur was looking thinner.     Did think about a cocker, however I want a dog to take ratting too. surely I can get a terrier that wont go to ground and just rats.

    I am not saying plummers won't go to ground but from what I have heard they excel when ratting.

    Thinking about getting a terrier to take out with my lurchers and go ratting with. I currently have two beddy lurchers however they can be on the big side when mooching and often struggle getting into the thick, therefore I think having a terrier in the pack would help. I also have always fancied ratting and I have plenty of rats on my permission. For this type of work what would you lads recommend as I don't want a terrier that will go to ground. I like the look of the Lakeland, however I was thinking a Bedlington terrier or a plummer may be better, as I know lakelands like to work under grou

    yes i have noticed an increase in the last few years and they sem to be creating a lot of damge with broken feeders and debarked trees

    i have personally found this to be true over the last 5 years. i have owned 4 polecats and none of them have been my cup of tea. had a two year old jill that was tame in the hutch at then onece down a hole would try and take your finger off. similar situation with the two kits i kept out of her. i have had 8 albinos over the past 5 years and 5 have made the grade. i personally now only work albinos, however i do believe their are bad ones and good ones in every breed

    still have an ablino hob kit, a litter of polecat kits, and a 2yr old polecat jill free to good home. from excellent workers!

    i have always either bred my jill or gettin the jill jab. hoewever this year the vet has put the prices up and it would cost £50 to get the jab for my three jills. just wanting to know i need the jab or do any of you just leave the jill to come out naturally.
