    anyone out there got any advice on growing good swede, ive consulted the tribal elders, and all iget is the same answer, cant get good swede in cambridge soil boy, i tryed it last year but they only got as big as turnips, any advise

    you could trim the fur back, and try steristrips, these are not going to affect the wound but should help to close it, and spray on some greenoils, this will help the healing,i dont reckon the lampshade will cover that, it looks like a burst abcess, try it ,it may help, the only thing honey will do is cause the other dog to lickit. and as for flour keep it for baking.

    get some antibiotics, get another bloody vet, if you cant afford a vet take your dog to the pdsa, they might help, i aint no vet, but that looks like it has absessed and burst, cold boiled water with salt in it , but get the dog jabbed,

    can anyone help, has anyone got a terrier bitch that has lost pups, my mates border bitcth died in the vets last night, but they saved the pups all eight, anyone in bucks, herts, cambs, beds, any help would be appriciated, pm me. thanks desertdog.

    fair play lads, some good replies, i only lamp nowadays for meself, but i do try and beat me personal best, years ago we had some real lamping men, serious lampers, like mr trevis, bless him , mr ince, i leanrt from these old boys, never lamped with them because of me dogs colour, they worked by day, and hunted by night for real dogmen, not men with dogs, end of subject,

    dont get me wrong, its not about numbers, i agree it is about your dog and how it performs for you, im not a competative dogman, i was remanising about me bitcth whos now twelve, and i wanted to share my thoughts, i enjoy genuine dog men , and when you read some of the on here i just makes me want to say are they dogmen or just men with dogs, thanks for sensible replys.

    just a thought, and im probably leaving myself open to a lot crap answers, truthally, whats your the best nights lamping you,ve ever had?. with my old bitch i had my best night down in dorset , she was five at the time , i took thirty five rabbits, conditions were perfect and there was plenty about ,ive not found a spot like it since, i still get good nights,but not like this.

    Having taken the longnet apprentaship,ihave to say you never stop learning,i only use the quick set method nowadays, day and night, i was taught to longnet by an old fella and used the proper method for years, he would cuss me if i got it wrong, i dont think its talentless, because you still need fieldcraft, i reckon its evolution, the trade is not being passed on as it should be.

    i remember my first battery was out of my old m,bike acid filled ,they were ok, till you spilt them and ended up with holes in your jacket, ive had my dry cell about 15 year it gets plenty of work, keep it charged ,still use a optronics blue eye,200,000 c,a, works atreat,dont like the new lamps, the batterys out of car chargers are the same, and are ok, if your a serious lamper you have two,

    i can remeber out one day with hounds and the unwashed and unloved turned up preaching, and sqawking about, not eating meat and and wearing leather products, and we would all be damned come the glorious day, did they think about that when they released the mink, and boar?, animal lovers me butt.anti scum even let my horses out, threating children, pulling girls off ponies, i have too stop . this man in the picture is just doing his feckin job, .

    all i know is he was bred by a gamekeeper from north yorkshire its hard too find good working strains of borders these days, mine are registerd but i don,t have much time for the kennel club, or showing for that matter all to clicky, what matters to me is the working side, if it don,t work i dont want it!
