i used to work there many years ago it is all private as you head north all the water on the right is a nature resurve and the water on the left is part of cambusmore estate we used to take clients to the butts that are still visable and shoot a lot of duck and some geese it use to be a grey roost but getting more and more pinks now not sure if the estate still shoot it your better of shooting the dornoch around by the golf course far better flight out of there

the problem with the findorn is it is to easier acsess i have had the pleasure of shooting on the dornoch,cromarty,moray firth, findorn tay,montrose basin and in england tothe findorn was the worst place i have been seen people falling out with each other over a goose i would sooner walk for an hour then sit next to some fool with a game gun shooting at 50yard+ plus geese. i can see why the locals on the findorn get sick of the vistors they come up for a few days put all the geese way high then go home and moan that it was a hard week if some of them botherd to watch the geese see where the

out over the last few nights and starting seeing them running in pairs and not easy to call at the min had a shoot today and the guns got a dog that was lying up in a ditch sheltering out of the wind 50 yards from the game cover probloby sleeping of his breakfest of one of my partridge :11:

i used to shoot the findorn and got sick of all the idiots in the cowboy corner shooting geese at stupid hights and all sitting 15 yards apart i now live by the montrose basin far better and more sucseefull been once this year on an evening flight there fir an hour and a half and picked up 7 pinks

when i breed a litter of pups i put a radio on in the kennel 24 hours a day playing all diffrent types of noise s a/ it helps break them in to being used to the gun and b/it also helps when people by the pups and take them home if they start to whine at night when they are all alone put the music on and they remember this in the kennel and makes them settel down and no more whining

as my name sake i keep teckels and work them for deer they can be head strong but great compions as for what your looking for i would consider a lab but just watch them when rough shooting incase they start to look for deer instead of game if you have been using them a lot for deer

we have problems up here with boys coursing deer and hares always one thing or anouther in the keepers life any other keepers want to have there input speak now :11:

its the old landowner and keeper thing dont trust boys with lurchers i keep lurchers and terriers but there is a lot of old school out there and for the hunt terrier thing they employ a terrier man to do the job so dont take affance with them just keep following the hunt and you will get there aventurley

its a hard time of year for a keeper just though we would share our job with thouse who intreasted in what we do but when some starts going on about poaching and bragging how great it is do you expect use to sit back and take it ?no we cant we just say how we feel

i was in florida last year went fishing in the golf of mexico out of boca grande put got put back to shore as a mini huricane blew in so didnt catch any tarpon but going back next may to try again cant wait nice and hot and playing a big fish :11:

got a pair of the musto leather with zip best wellie type boot i have bought got a pair of le chamau leather lined good boot also got mendials good for the hill work bought some danner boots in the states last year good for everyday wear and also got some irsh setter boots out there use them for digging good suport and can kick the spade and fine on the arch of your foot

well i take it you aint a fan of deerhound or deerhound crosses miles?tell you the best thing for bambi and thats a winchester .243 knocks them of thier feet and perfectly legal and anyway salukis look good a crufts :11:

we use catch alive baited with a tin of tuna works every time open the tin and poor the jucies all over the place so there is plenty of smell cover the trap so it dark and you will get your prize

been up to caithness over the last 15 years used to fish the thurso and forss and halladalealso fished kiess and dunnet and at tounge and bettyhill great fun

thurso jack did you catch them on dunnit beach as i have had a lot of sucsees there to and had some good catches of bass to around towards castletown on the rocks
