  1. I see were your coming from dev but don't totally agree. Not every terrier owner can get permission on foxes especially in this country!!!!. At the end of the day a terrier will work anything you want it to be it rabbits, rats foxes.I like nothing better than bushing with my two borders, and also if you can get a small pack working hedges/woodland in the summer when their is plentyful supply of rabbits theirs not alot more enjoyable.I would like to think of my terriers as been allrounders.PS isn't bushing in the summer a good way of maintaing fitness just ready for the winter?
  2. nice gun welcome to the hw100k club you will never look back!!! what calibre?
  3. weihrauch f&t specials .177 very good quality pellets, have yet to find a damaged one in the tin!!!!!, if your doing alot of rabbiting with .177 bisley magnums are the boys.Scope Hawke Varmint II 4-12-44ao
  4. Could'nt agree with you more Deker, as i've already stated in a earlier post.Use a good lamp and then you might realise that the logun is not good value for money and is next to useless out in the field.
  5. i've got one but i don't rate it. I definatley wouldn't buy one (mine was given to me by friend). Its not very bright only lighting about 35/40m,put the filter on and you might as well get the candle out!. People will say you are only shooting a air rifle so you don't need it that powerful but you can't scan fields to see were the rabbits are!!! If you want a lamp to do everything treat yourself to a clulight (cluson) i've got a large handheld foxing lamp(10 years old no problems) but my friend has a gun mounted lamp which is excellent. You will probadly spend £90 but it'll last a long while.
  6. line breeding is a way of securing qualities or assets of a particular dog.Say for instance you have a dog that you deem perfect. ie has a good temprement, gives 100%, looks good without any defects.(it must have all these because by breeding close you will promote all the good genes as well as the bad). If you then answer yes to all of them questions you can start to think about line breeding ie LOCKING them disirable qualities. You could then breed your dog(sire) to two good bitchs. one bitch(50%sire/50%dam) from one litter could be mated to a good dog(50%sire/50%dam) from the other litter
  7. you will not go far wrong with a beretta john!!!! it'll last a life time good looking gun and will always keep a high resale value as well.
  8. i've not had anything chewed in my kennel the dogs have been in their for 2 years now since pups. bored dogs chew, mine get taken out for a good run every morning and will sleep most of the day! i think you might have a problem keeping one dog outside alone especially while its young, best to keep them with aleast one companion while your away. Good excuse to get another dog!!!!
  9. my kennel 10x4, currently being rented by my two border terriers
  10. can you remember how your side by side used to shoot? you can learn to shoot any gun at the end of the day but its best to try and understand gun fitament to make your transition to your new gun as easy as possible. Bide your time and speak to different gun shops get them involved in the gun fitting (its their job), then stick with your gun and learn to shoot it!! practice makes perfect. It is surprising that the majority of shooters haven't a clue about gun fitting and end up changing their guns every couple of months and never really improving as a shooter, remember its the person that makes
  11. At the end of the day their isn't a bad gun out their really. It doesn't matter what other people think you want a gun that FITS you.Their are loads of attractive guns on the market but they need to suit you. How do you like your gun to shoot? flat or high? I like my guns to shoot flat (ie not seeing much of the barrel rib, once mounted only bead on the end of the gun visable), this suits my shooting style, were ever i point the gun it shoots. I love beretta's but they all shoot high with me (mounted i see all the barrel) so that would mean i would need to spend extra money to get the stock al
  12. welcome john, Have a look at the franchi harrier(franchi owned by beretta) got mine for 650 (new) with 3 year GMK warranty. I got the 12g 28inch o/u game model and i am over the moon with it. If you ever have a problem with it, it'l be the same gunsmith working on it that would also be working on your 3500k beretta! :secret:
  13. good post! i was just thinking exactly the same thing the other day.
  14. My Dads friend missed one with 243 riffle a few years ago in lincolnshire while out lamping!
  15. daystate harrier X .177, Hawke pro stalk 4-14-50pa, Bisley Magnums.
  16. Weihrauch HW100KS .177 with Hawke Varmint II 3-12-44pa
  17. Once you have shot a precharged air riffle you wont go back. I' ve shot precharged air riffles for a good three years now and their is no way i could EVER go back to a spinger. For me i want a match accurate accuracy, silent as a whisper, and with a decent multishot no hassle loading in the field. My advice would be not to f##k about and save up for a AA S410(second hand?). A friend of mine owns Bsa lighting XL, i couldn't beleave how loud it was!!! and how inaccurate it is(hence now he is selling it).At the end of the day if you want a gun for plinking or odd pigeon then they are not bad, but d
  18. I was told by a good frend to put a spoon full of chopped tomatos in my bitch's food when shes on heat to stop the staining on the grass, and it definatly works! give it a go ps tinnned tomatos are also extremly good for dogs and are cheap at about 15p a tin!
  19. You don't have to fill in gun details because you have'nt yet got a gun, when you are issued a sgl you take it with you to the gun shop if you buy a gun they will fill it in (ie put gun serial number ,type, gauge down) You usaully will then send a letter to the firearms department outlining the gun which should be recorded on your license. Most good gun shops will arrange this for you and usually have a automated letter which again they fill in the gun details and you sign. I got a local parish councillor who lives near me to sign my countersignator I payed £50 with Humberside police
  20. Hello Marsh, enjoy the site.PS try and shoot the rabbits instead of chasing them!
  21. I've had a super10,great accuracy but miles to heavy! had a Ultra and it spent most the time back at bsa with various problems! Their are two guns that i would recommend to anyone and that would be the AA s410 if your on a budget and if you want a gun to last a life time buy a weinrauch hw100k. I have both these guns now and i can honestly say i have never had a problem.
  22. i used Air Arms field and had no problems at all, for ultimate accuracy clean barrell every 100 or so shots and hand sort pellets as their is always alot of damaged pellets in AA packs because of the soft lead. Hope this is some help.
  23. hi mate and welcome to the forum, since no one else has told you, in future, turn the caps lock off, it's classed as shouting and rude Ok mate, advice taken
