  1. what a cock. . . . once upon a time in this great country of ours... there was no Salukis..and no Pit bulls. That Gallager fella should stick to trying to promote his weak wristed little limpits he calls ferriting dogs. i hope someone put that vid up of him ferreting with ade edminson (spelling) ffs it's a laugh
  2. darren galliger what tosser self proclaimed know it all cnut & hans christian anderson wouldn't get a look in,he missed his called when jackanory finished.go on his site & disagree with owt he says & see how long you last
  3. you said you stared this thread for debate yet you have not really done anything other than state your opinion & call people who disagree with it. you seem to equate brains with lack of prey drive, it ain't so the two don't go hand in hand just as a high prey drive doesn't mean your dog will want to kill everything that moves.it was my post you mentioned & i didn't say i wouldn't have a dog with to much brain solely for a lamp dog i said to much i said to much collie. as i also said to much of anything is simply that to much, the reason we cross breed is to try & get a good
  4. i've one that really is effected by nettles doesn't bother him when he's out but when he gets home ffs he's murder & one that don't like water, walks round puddles won't go more than toe deep in a stream no matter how hot but like most have said if she's behind summet nowt gets in the way
  5. your right mate,i've been kidding myself all these years. they should all be PTS along with those thick lolloping salukis, vicious bulls, yappy beddies the list goes on.are my dogs perfect, not by a long way have i ever wish he had another yard of pace when a rabbits made safety a foot in front of the dog, plenty of times but how ever much collie was in it, however fast it was they've all missed some by a a foot so i think we've all wished they had that little bit extra or got on it that second sooner at some time or other no matter what cross we have & that's the sport you don't get e
  6. one mine around 70 lb 26" & just under 3/4 collie much toooo slow for bunnies
  7. true but would they want too much bull, beddie, lab or any other base (non running dog) too much is just that, too much
  8. See I wouldn't say that a real heavily collie blooded dog is necessarily easy to train. Some of them need far more patience, and a quieter, slower approach than some other breeds. Just going from what i've seen. Out of interest, where do you get the idea that everyone on here thinks that collie x's are some kind of magic wonder dog, and they are all the rage. There are far more bull x's and beady x's on here than there are collie blooded dogs. . . . . . and even more lurcher x lurchers. They really fell out of fashion for a while (at least in the public eye) but the collie x will a
  9. it didn't,some folk just over think things lol
  10. well i think it was earlier in this post someone was on about a 3/4 bull that was a good un on the bunnies, i wouldn't of thowt it would be as fast as a 3/4 collie.the magic only appears if it's a merle
  11. aye but wait till it's 22 months & it starts using it's brain
  12. Darcys just answered it better than i ever could. I think as i said on my second post its a quick fix,one that like the old collie comes and bites you on the ass when you least expect it. A nd a dog without pace to match is quarry is always going to struggle, couple that with brains? i don't get the quick fix what's it meant to be fixing,i don't think brains is a replacement for speed if they did they'd run collies (or bulls)& not lurchers. or is a collie x somehow slower than a bull x
  13. Seen most x's and lurcher x lurcher types do the same, with enough experience, or run too often when not fit true, not saying you got run it to standstill or when its not fit, but the collie x type will say when its had enough , bit more quicker than most other xs in the night, ive had few over the years and all have this mind-set attitude .Like said its what you doing with dog, if nice steady lamping +mooching+ferreting there hard to beat, but push them that bit harder ,and more so as they get older it will show more, they are a clever type dog they will do what they want not you.But
  14. And have you never had one thats over thought a situation,Or stood looking at you with a Sorry did you want me to chase that look. never had a dog over think any situation, & the only time one has refused to hunt/chase is when the lad i was with fetched an in season bitch as i said i've had most fractions of collie from 1/16 to 3/4 now if you was mostly lamping i don't think i would go more than 3/8 as i don't see that much gain.but at the end of the day it's the owners choice they pick what they like what they think suits them.but collie are just the same as any other dog there
  15. every dog i've had has had collie in most half or more & i've never had a dog that stalked rabbits
  16. well all collie x's arn't intelligent why do folk think if you cross a collie & a sighthound you will get the brains from the collie side everytime your just as likely to get the brains from the G/H side & that goes for everything else, feet, stamina, coat, agility & nose. so if you have had a collie x that wasn't all you hoped it would be,it could just be as simple as the collie not passing on the desired traits.not all matings mesh in the desired way,it would be easy & we would all have great dogs if they did
  17. Not quite yet.. City have still got two games in hand, they can afford to loose to Liverpool as long as they win both those games.. ??? 7 points behind & 2 games in hand
  18. your right mate, but why are they always asked by folk not interested in buying the dog & usually the same folk
  19. 5 - 1 to bayern in the 1st leg 6- 0 in the 2nd Oh & liverpool to win the league
  20. blame culture ffs, do people blame her for putting plain clothes police & army in with the miners crowd to incite & start trouble to turn public opinion against them.to f****n right they do & did anyone ever do any time or face prosecution for it, NO because they'd bring the house down crumbling round the lot of em police an all.since we joined the eu the tories have tried to stop subsidies to farmers as ours are amongst the most productive in the world, but to buy subsidized polish coal & put british miners out of work who where the most productive in the world was ok &am
  21. just a good day to be a red not so much a red devil. smithie they ain't got 200 million they have a lot of interest to pay & even if they had do you think they will get the top players to go there without champions league not without paying daft wages & they can't pay em all £ 300,000 a week
  22. aye i know the saying & i'm also sharp enough to know it's a load of bollox.you keep moaning about unions but the rich & powerful have had there own clubs long before the working man had his,the difference being they held theirs in secrete with dodgy hand shakes & such to promote their interests, but hey i bet it was all legal & above board eh. better billy brag than coco the clown
  23. you do talk some shite when has the working class EVER had anything 95% of the money in this & most countries is & has always been held by a few % of it's population.does that seem right to you(it probably does) and how did they get this wealth do you think they all earned it,got off there arses & grafted as you put it,and thatcher came from nowt,gi your self a shake, she got where she got the same way they all do by lieing, conniving, scheming & cheating her way to the top.she was just better at it than most.300 years worth of coal left to ruin in the ground well we could d
