    and id say most terriers even the ones no good for the ground will kill rats if thats your main interest.....just try and find terriers from working stock if your going to take it seriously.happy hunting.

    yes mate they would happilly work rats but these are kept for earth work firstly,and maybe do some ratting when its quiet anything to keep the farmers happy.welcome to the site.what do you hunt over there if you dont mind me asking? I will be working ALOT and I mean Alot of private acreage with tons of Raccons, Rats, Oppossum, Ground hogs, Rats, Badgers, Rabbits, coyote, and did I mention rats? I posted some pics of breeds I am interested in the gallery under the title "all show and no go". I am very interested in the Irish, Patterdale, and Black&Tan terriers and welcome any advice

    some white dogs were used in the lakes as out crosses,and some came from the devon area,as there were a lot of badger digging clubs about there at that time. and its fact that some white dogs were sent up north for the use of badger digging. most white dogs origins can be traced back to wales via the sealiam type, and so can the lakelands from the old black and tan welsh terrier. i would hate to upset terrier men of the north,but the lakelands up there were nothing more than imigrant welsh dogs.sent up there . mind you some were sent to wales also. at the time when badger digging clubs we

    cant add any more pics as its doing my head in trying to resize them.;etting me add some and not others and they end up grainy like the first 2....surely there must be a better way of doing it so we dont have to take an it course just to add a pi.

    taffys out of pickaxe stuff a half decent dog just s steady baying dog a good nose on him.oscars out of booths stuff and coming along well,his owners slowed him down now till the season starts again cos hes getting a bit to big for his boots.lol.hopefully he,ll settle down and retain what lips he has left when the season starts.

    heard a good one the other day.......when a lad i know was telleing some terrier lads that he thougt due to his young dogs style in the ground he thought it would either spew or be lost to ground.their reply....."every dog spews in the end"!!!!!!!!!what the f**k?i dont know these lads very well and from what i have known they seemed decent lads but after that comment im not sure what to make of them,they also instructed my mate to work his young dog sore to calm it down a bit.i cant see that doing any good for the dog hes only 18 month and has only had 6 digs allready looking like hes seen alo

    each to there own but id reckon youd need at very least 2 good seasons under their belt and then only breed to restock or lighten the load of the other dogs you keep.and i reckon us weekend terrierlads dogs get [depending on the amount we keep that is] get as much graft as the top boys.i dont follw a hunt and me and my pals can dig to our dogs every time theyve heald surely thats all the "pro,s" can do.happy hunting.lee.
