Took my two lurchers over the park the other morning at 6am for a really quick run. they managed to collide with one another at full speed head on. one bitch collapsed both lungs! and the other is badly lame now. after £370 to the vet so far the youngest lurchers lungs were re inflated, shes still critical in that they could collapse again but is doing well touch wood. The vet done a good job it was amazing really when I droped her off she could hardlie breath an hour later and her breathing was improved no end and I walked her home and have been looking after her inside. if she has

So the gather said to the farmer who gave me permission the other day. The helicopter came on tuesday followed by 5 cars and even though I had permission to "rabbit" with lurchers he wasnt satisfied we were looking for them in the middle of a large feild. I was working but my brother rung when it was happening I said make sure you tell the nice police officer your in pursuit of rabbit which he did. The keeper turned up to varify the story and he was told if when asked any one would have said they was coursing they would have all been banned from driving and the car crushed. On p

Not rietriving rabbits
baldockbanks courser replied to baldockbanks courser's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
what does she retrieve for,,praise,,food or for it to be thrown again,,try not taking the item off her when she retrieves,,also i would work on your bond with her, she seems a little possessive,, praise no food. she is very possive she isnt normally aggresive but if shes out ferreting shell sit buy the rabbit pile and if another dog approaches "her catch" shell have a go. -

well I wont be buying a new dog thanks for your sarcy comment nice one.as I said she will retreive but not on the feild and isnt intrested in dead game so I cant use them. so Iam happy with what I done with her trainning wise. just want some help not people being clever please. -
Training went well bitch fetched tennis balls and rabbit skin dummies back and will even rump long net and fences with them. when she catches shes very soft mouthed to the point of droping the odd one. No problems up close but on long catches always carrys at first but wont come in and ends up crunching once she puts them down and they keep making half run offs till she re catches them. was really optimistic after the trainning cant see what else I could have done.? Apart from that shes doing well people cant beleive how well she works with ferrets unbelievable for a saluki lurcher

8mths old pup 3rd time out
baldockbanks courser replied to pete73's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
he want yap mate he,s doing good and will cary on takeing him Dont matter if they do yap as long as they kill I can tell by your posts you give your dogs a fair bit of cosh which is good dogs should be run. But ... 1. thats a bit divy to start guarantee an 8 month old pup will be a good match dog because her mother was. most coursing pups are of or should be out of match dogs and not many are as good as there parents. 2. no coursing man would chose to have a dog that opens up on hares. iv had two dogs that could take three out of three in dead of winter but had heaps more -

I would never ever advertise and sell a lurcher from my place any more and if you do your mad! If people dont understand and like it when I tell them they cant come round then to be honest I would say dont buy the pup however desprate I was to sell. its common practice when buying british birds now due to theft. The last few birds iv got from the cage birds iv meet people on the road and have no problem with it.

caught coursing..!!
baldockbanks courser replied to jackson2kaii8's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Sounds like a crock of sh1te - gorger generally in english means scumbag Grew up with settled travellers and had no idea of a difference in us and them until much older and realised they all had the same name. Still call with them when I am home although none of them are into hunting (or stealing for that matter). The travellers I am on about are tinkers/pikies and no good b_rstewards who don't give a feck for anything, anyone nor any community including their own. They steal, deal and damage as they like. And as for romanys - after a crew tried to steal my youngest child -

youv made some fair points and I can see you grevenses I do think a lot of chaud dogs are due to travellers and there attitude to gaurgers wheather its dogs or justifying tucking some one up who really cant afford and dont really need a double dear drive way. its a justification treating people badlie. I treat people as they treat me. And go for the robin hood approach " rob from the rich " when it comes to work. TIMBO I see on your profile you dont even keep coursing lurchers? Ill take you to a TRAVELLING MAN, he might take the lead of your roof to feed his children, but hes got 2 dogs -

whats the point of using a purpous breed fen coursing dog as an all rounder? buy a dog breed to be an all rounder ( s,gx b,g eg) thell be cheaper priced sharper and harder. More often than not they wont like being bit, try boxing up and coursing rather than catching lamped rabbits and be a bit steady to take d. Mind you they should kill day time hares stranglie what theve been breed for! iv got two coursing breed bitches on at the mo I breed for coursing but i didnt think there size was big enougth so I work one with ferrets and lamp both run the lamp regular and take good numbers of

Sight hounds will chase anything if they are run at a lure more than worked. whats the point of having a poll with out most possibilities. If I had access to one I honestlie wouldnt use it. A lurcher should be a working animal with a brain, why would it chase a carrie bag or a old skin if it has access to regular rabbits and hares. I see it at country fairs all the time over eager racing dogs going wild, while dogs that will run there quarrie till they drop hardlie batter an eye lid. Dont get upset when people have diffrent veiws than you, do you just want folks patting you on the back ! -

wheres the option for i wouldnt use it at all ? my regularlie worked lurcher wont chase them really. I think a lurcher knows whats a rabbit or hare and whats a plastic bag. take them out on the lamp. -
