  1. Just found it.but it looks to be loads of adverts.as it's playing through the episode.
  2. It was a good watch.from cutting the trees down and quarrying the stones.making wooden cranes etc.they done a brilliant job of it..
  3. Yea that makes sense.pity I wasn't more of a learning type in school.as I do find all building engineering quite interesting to be honest. A good programme was on before where they were building a new castle in france.25yr project using the same techniques of the day stone masons carpentry etc. And showed how they built the stone steps in a round tower.that was a good watch..
  4. I was just searching the net.and found this a good little read.. https://www.nps.gov/parkhistory/online_books/yell/vol14-1-2a.htm
  5. So say a steeple on a church roof for instance.some are maybe 40ft + would they of used a wooden square frame with a hanging plumb Bob and every say 1ft in height.move the plumb in say 1" from the top frame towards centre and keep repeating untill they reached the top.
  6. That's right enough. How would they calculate say a bridge pillar that got smaller as it gained height.years ago. Maybe a wooden structure do you think.its quite interesting how they managed to work things out years ago. A programme I seen years ago about an engineer in the 1800's who's job was to tunnel under a hill for a canal.he worked it out by using a few wooden poles going over the hill.clever guy fair play.
  7. What do they expect walking near what is a government funded cull area involving firearms.the last thing the police would want is 1 of them to be involved in a firearm related accident.lock them up to save themselves.
  8. That's the exact same 1 mate.the bulldogs do well holding on don't they..
  9. To right they will I seen a good vid maybe 20yrs ago now of some hillbilly's using bulldogs fair play once them dogs had ear hold.it was time to hold on tight.fair play to the dogs they took some hammer but held firm.1 boar even killed a blood hound I think the dog was.and started drifting down the stream.looks some good fun though I must admit..
  10. That's sounds spot on mate.i wouldn't mind doing something like that. If I remember right I'm sure a nature programme I watched once said some bears can run as fast as a racehorse. You obviously wouldn't have a chance escaping that..
  11. I remember a builder mate in Wales telling me about how they used to build big chappels or Churches etc. A wooden frame in the middle with a water barrel and a pipe to each corner of the building using the water level technique.then string lines corner to corner.as the building grew taller so did the barrel tower. But thinking of it maybe barrel water pressure would add to it aswell.i don't know. so even building into the side of a hill it was perfect way of leveling. Quite interesting I thought.
  12. Some beast them boars.the chest plates the Yanks use on the hold dogs serves a good purpose them tusks don't take any prisoners mate. I would love to watch bears or lions in the wild though.it would beat watching bloody hares or rabbits in the uk ?
  13. I wouldn't pull the trigger on a bear or lion or any big cat.to be honest.unless my life depended on it.
  14. The water level is another super accurate old technology that's still used today.quite interesting..
  15. You would need 1 to make a square that is a perfect square..
  16. What and risk losing all that valuable body heat..
  17. Ah right that explains the black neck. Didn't you have any old twisted pisspots you could use as a hat.for that extra bit of warmth.
  18. The 3 4 5 rule.. Piss easy to make from some wood.and handy if you are building a wooden shed.block shed.or building shuttering for a concrete slab..or any other thing where you want to be certain that an angle is 90 degrees..
  19. The youth of today don't know they are born mate ?
  20. When I was a kid in winter we didn't have central heating in the house. So my gran used to sit me in a black bin bag and tied it around my neck. And feed me 1/2 tin of baked beans.within 1hr the farting would start. lovely and warm then for the night..they were the days blackneck.
