    Was an old boy down at the East Devon hunt years ago could find a dog with diviners cut out the hedge .Hodge I think his name was ,got to be long gone now rest his soul

    Only remember one collar failing ,the old deben, on a banking worst place but by listening at holes we got a rough idea and dug 3 holes in the end to find dog .I' pretty good at locating dogs without collars as I've done it all my digging career .Even with the bellman my first thing to do is to try find dog without it.

    There are lines that have very high % of workers and in the right hands continue to do so . Lines arnt necessarily kept going from well known original stock ,they can be started from scratch with decent enough stuff being a mix of all that' gone before .Lad I know has a very distinctive line of blacks going back 25 years to Lakeland x black and a dog I gave him .Anyone can do it with the right mindset and vision but you need good mates on-board that are willing to forsake other types in favour of what you breed to get anywhere .Key words are honesty ,work and more work .

    Not upset anybody mate ,we are discussing lines of dogs therefore ill tell you mine ,what you make if it us your problem .I started with 3 old style Nuttal bitches and looked for a rough type dog to put over them arriving at a wheeler bred pup I ran on before it proved it's worth then I covered all 3 bitches with him and their offspring there after with him and a son of his .Bitches were very bully as were the father .I've introduced NS stuff for no other reason than to steady it up which straight away reduced size and jaw but by breeding to an excellent dog I had that was rectified within a g

    Good lost general and very true concerning lads and whether or not they take a pup and turn it into a worker .Lost count of the times the same lads make a good in and others need it taking away .

    Best artificials here are the ones made of old foot round clay pipes with soil in the bottom. W shaped with oven in the V .Straight runs hold too depending on wind direction .One of the farms I do has two artificial from a bygone pirate pack that hold in prefeference to 3 old badger setts .No rhyme to it really. Only criteria seems to be peace and quiet and not tried too often .

    Your all missing the point lads .Smart metres are nothing to do with us monitoring our usage but more to do with them not needing to check metres or come to the house for any reason .They also send them data on when usage is peeked so they can tailor future packages in their favour. WE have one but it's unplugged and I take great delight telling the raghead it's not being back plugged in neither, c**ts .

    It' not the actual killing done by adapters that affects gamebirds especially in pens ,it' the stress they are put under through constant visits .We rear fame birds artificially and then moan when a predator wants a meal or two lol.Harrs hawks could indeed become a commen sight in our countryside .They are far better predators than our buzzard and more aggressive in defence of young having seen both in captivity. The male Harris I had was found by a mate hooked up in a bush and I flew him for 4 seasons before giving him to another mate for breeding .Would love another bird but times not right
