  1. Hers another vid of mine showing that the way an animal moves is telltale to ID
  2. Hares are the bain of my life in the thermal mate .Sat up from a distance they look like a fox . Hunched up they look like badgers .It’s only the movement that reveals what is is definitively which is why I ask everyone who’s ever seen a fox in the lamp or thermal about its business to watch how those animals move .Took me quite a while to sort out images from each other but now it’s second nature .
  3. Foxes in the thermal have a whiplike tail mate because the tail fur when held behind and not curled up does not hold heat .Even foxes at close range do not show bushy tails . Steer away from a dog mate .Experience says to me all clips are fox . What others believe is immaterial to myself at this point .When ,if ,a large cat vid appears I shall be the first to congratulate Greyman . The scaling of a distorted still pic is to me a bit disturbing though and should be made very clear to the person it comes from that it’s not acceptable .A decent outline image showing the correct fea
  4. Feckin Rolland rat lookalike .Sad day for British politics
  5. Mate shot a rabbits years ago with the ,22 catching it a bit far back .It scrambled for the hedge burrows but I was faster .As I got to it a badger cam rushing out the hedge and grabbed it in the half light .We had a few back and forth before he realised his mistake ?
  6. Out lamping years ago up around Devises with a mate .We we’re on permission and about midnight ,heard the sound of running in the next field .First thoughts were cattle but what came through the gateway surprised us both .Army fellas in full kit running in a v formation .Ishone the lamp in the leaders face but he never deviated at all .In seconds they were gone over the brow . Another time ,fishing a lake near same location ,night fishing with same mate just on dusk ,a line of bubbles came towards me and a frogman emerged right in front of me .To say I was surprised would an understatemen
  7. Mate I’m not saying anything bad about the chap on the thermal .Don’t know him from Adam but I do know what he’s filming . If he knows it’s a fox and is trying to fool others then that’s a different scenario .
  8. Watch til the end .Pay attention to how they move .Vid taken at 300 m then 180 as one breaks away .Taken few weeks ago on a new permission .
  9. With respect mate .How can anyone scale a distorted image ? The axion is one of the lower res thermals in the pulsar range . Dont get me wrong it’s a good bit of kit .Very compact and easy on the eye but I’ve looked through several and beyond 100m everything is a white shape with no definition . I use the xq38f mate . Ill get some images up in a minute off mine and estimated ranges they are taken at .
  10. Interested to know which thermal that is Paul .Think it’s a hik micro .Also mate ,how was the scale arrived at please .
  11. The thermal that the chap has used is ,sorry to say entry level low tech ,low resolution kit .The cheaper the kit the less definition there is . Low end stuff only ever shows a white outline ,solid body and ID suffers as a result .The key to thermal ID of any kit is movement no matter the resolution .Foxes quarter a field unless on a mission to a specific place . Ive watched literally thousands in mine .I’ll stick a vid up of a decent clip of a fox when I get time .Ask your mate to lip squeak next time he’s out Greyman .See what sort of countryman he is ?
  12. It does socks but for some a dog is for life not just a tool to be discarded .f**k I’m sounding like an amateur ?.
  13. Here’s a vid off my thermal .This fox is quite feline in its appearance but watch the way it moves then look at the poor quality vids put on that podcast .I’m trying to put up poor quality vids as that’s what you are seeing from that chaps thermal . This is about 200 m away .Shot it the other side of the next shed .
  14. The blow up distortions are just that mate .Sorry to be so negative but just saying it how it is .If you want praise and your arse continually licked go back to whoever took the vid . Hes welcome to come here and compare the two thermals mate ??
  15. I’ve watched all the vids mate and unless I’ve missed something ,they are all fox . You may have a different opinion but that’s mine . Ive used a thermal for 9 years Paul .
  16. Yes mate will do I’m out tonight so I’ll see if I can find a Charlie at ranges similar .Did Greyman say roughly 150m .Those vids are taken low to the ground or uphill slightly ,giving the impression the animal is bigger than it is .Feline anatomy is much slender than that ,even leopard size .Might get lucky on a moggy tonight .
  17. Ok so I’ve watched all the videos and every single one is a fox .Sorry but I’ve seen thousands in a thermal. That thermal ,whatever the make is low end tech lads . Fox tails appear cold and sometimes look like a skinny tail . Seen those images every time I venture out I’m afraid . Honestly not being a knob just telling the truth .
  18. We’ve never had numbers like that mate .Even back in the day 30 was hell of a night .
  19. Does it really matter Wilf .You and I wouldn’t put up with a jacker on fox but others may not be so fortunate in their canine choice .The real fact is they are out mobbing coyotes that was taken on its own turf .I’ve seen lads here bring the same jacker week after week that runs beside a fox always just out of reach to the owner but plain to see it’s never going to strike for glory . That same chap enjoys his dog as much as the next .Sometimes they get the real deal if they are connected or breed lucky but often as not he will be happy with rabbits on which I’ve never seen a jacker .Teeth
  20. Despite the competition mate ,I can’t remember a foul hook .You need a short tail on the feeder ,no more than a foot or you will deep hook them .Size 8 hook ,worm tipped with maggots i my go to .
  21. Totally agree mate but some appear very short sighted . If you had a top notch singlehanded coyote dog you’d be out with it but if you had 3 dogs that could ,should do it in the end but no single handed dog ,you’d be out as well . I don’t get the negative comments when none of us have run one ,most havnt even seen one nor the type of dog it takes to kill them single handed . The fact they can still do what they like over there is very appealing to me no matter the standard of dog and I’d watch that in person rather than go to a hunt here where the only thing chased is a stinking
  22. Get on the Yank trapping forums Wilf and ask about weights mate .I’ve seen yotes that even the locals needed a second glance to make sure it wasn’t a wolf .They arnt to be confused with our fox at all mate .Our fox is a poor second to a yote that kills deer albeit in a pack . Yotes regularly kill small dogs .You ever heard of a fox killing even a Russel ?
  23. Forget quality .Rather do 300 lb of 7lb fish than 10 over 10 ? Filled 3 nets more times than I remember using worm and maggot . The trip is not to bait a wide area . The times I’ve seen lads balling in cricket ball sized ground bait in a 10m area then wondering why bites are slow . You need them competing for food in a small area to get big bags . The sight of a tip getting dragged round does it for me .I’m used to bullying them by holding the rod high and getting them on their side to come in like a carrier bag .I hold the top match weight for our water in 5 hours of
