Yep know the stretch well mate .Caught a 23lb pike in the pound but there’s far bigger there .There’s a rumour the Europeans have handlined most of the big carp out to eat as they ain’t showing at all . Caught a cracking koi cross on crust .Black ,yellow and white ,stunning fish of 12 lb . Havnt had the devises license for few years as it’s not fished well for a while .Got Bristol amalgamated license this year and of course Bowood .If you want a days piking on the lake mate pm me .

I’ve fished the canal at Devises in winter league matches and when they open the sluice gates at Honey Street your whole swim is washed away with a surge of water to the point it’s silly putting in any bait to get washed away .Those matches were won with drams not ounces .A gudgeon or a roach .A carp or tench would win you the match .I once caught a pound roach off the whistle ,knew I had my section then promptly fell in the canal trying to adjust a bank stick .Had to sit wet through ,freezing cold as I had a lift but I did win the section and got £120 prize money .Canals are fickle places to

There’s just no game dealers around me within 30 mile mate .I don’t mind getting rock bottom prices just need an outlet .Travelling 60 miles round trip is silly so they can stay alive for another year .I’ll just take what I need and those that I have clients for .

We had them here for a while ,damned annoying as stated .I put fens along the wall plate by pushing up bottom row of tiles and felt .Our rats were running the eaves but after catching 7 it stopped .Damned things almost caused a fire chewing wires . Hate to say it but poison is your best bet here mate .They gained access to ours along the gutter from next door that has a climber on the back of the house and chewed the facia board to get in . Had a few with the dogs over the years and shot one with an airgun while ratting ,big bugger too .Be a poorer place without them Id say despite the water bird loses .Just need to control them that’s all . Years ago few of us had a bobbery pack that used to do the marden and parts of the Avon .No hounds just mixed pack of terriers ,whippets and anything else that came along .I was the whip and got to see some truly cunning stunts by mink .Up trees ,heel line aplenty and waterfalls .

In the states otter and mink are found on the same stretches so why not here .Too many old wives tails from old fish wives I’m afraid ??? Back to cats then .Do they displace any carnivores here as I’m told the fox population is at an all time high .Badgers not so but that’s man made .Did see one last night out in the frost and sort of felt a bit sorry it as it snuffled for anything near a chicken shed .Surprised he hasn’t tried a break in tbh .

Do you know which org did the release mate as that’s not guidelines at all to just tip to them out on a body of water .They we’re housed in an artificial holt here with a cage round it ,fed ,then released when they recognise their surroundings .You want to report that to Natural England Paul . According to the data I’ve read on polecats they were randomly released in areas of rabbit population which is no mean feat to find here at the moment . Why does it need to be hunters and country folk .Surely 99% of the populous knows when a cat is bigger than a house cat .I don’t get the stereo type your trying for here .Plenty of Internet pretenders mate .Only got to look in your own ranks to see why so many of us can’t take it seriously . I read an article where your mate Minter submitted a piece of evidence to a scientist who categorically stated yes it was from a big cat ,probably a puma but then another independent chap ,also a forensic scientist had a look and stated it was house cat . Not judging anyone Arry just trying to get my head round it all and the people who have seen them are part of that issue .The fact I havnt seen one makes no odds to me at all either way .I’ve seen things many others havnt including leopards in their real habitat in Africa ,lions and cheetah so in doing so I realise what sort of ask it is to place a leopard size cat in our countryside then apparently get no real sign as to its being there . Those who havnt seen an otter arnt looking mate or arnt interested ,they are getting pretty easy to find here if you know where to look . All thes
