  1. I am upto 69 squirrels in just under 3 weeks. 120-2
  2. Do a search for bodygrip tunnel or cubby, there is a wealth of information already on here. 120-2
  3. Thanks, its a contract I have with The National Trust. There has been no squirrel control there for about 5 years or so and the traps fill up as quick as you empty.
  4. The 120-2s and Kania's are doing the business at my NT job. 120-2
  5. Try Robin at Magnum Trap direct I am sure he will give you a good deal fot that quantity. Magnum Trap Co
  6. £9.00 postage is very excessive, it only costs me £3.50 to post a dozen fox wires. It seems a bizare way of doing things selling 10 for a £1 and then £9 postage - tax fiddle I think
  7. I have a couple of DOC 250s and they as you say OTC are approved, the information I have is that are on there way. It is the GWCT that will be selling them eventually, I think its more to do with price and logisitics than anything.
  8. In agree with OTC the DEFRA code or practice comes from the GWCT they are the ones that are testing snares and advicing DEFRA. Even new traps sent to the CSL for testing and approval for spring traps order are not field tested, they are only compared to the standards of what is already approved. I remember many years ago when I was keepering in North Devon we had Glens rocking eye snare come from the GCT for us to test and what a great snare it was to, and again now the GWCT have sent out breakaway snares to keepers to test when all they need to do is consult the people that have been usin
  9. Here in Hampshire the Highways Agency are employing Kestrel Pest Control to ferret the motorway banks they were not allowed to use gas. Drop boxes are the way forward along motorways.
  10. I tend to trap between silage or hay cuts, once the grass starts to get long it becomes more difficult.
  11. This is the Upper Test and this stretch is from the source.
  12. I am trapping mink on the River Test in Hampshire, took some pictures this morning of some droppings that I think are water vole and a dropping under a low bridge on a concrete pillar sticking out of the water - what do you think? Dry dropping is under the bridge in the distance. 120-2
  13. That is very observant, spot on two kania tunnels out of one cubby, bonus!
  14. A few photos. I am having to use new ones unpainted at the moment as well. The squirrels are not bothered and its in a private part of the estate at the moment.
  15. I am undertaking a squirrel contract for the National Trust at the moment and they insisted on Kania traps mounted up trees for the control. 120-2
  16. Does anyone have any pictures of squirrels in Fenn traps I can use? High res if possible but anything would be appreciated. Thanks 120-2
  17. I think we get mistaken sometimes by the word INSTANTLY remember the killing times of all approved traps at the moment has to be under 3 minutes which in my book is a long way from instantly the new EU directive wants to bring the killing time down to under a 1 minute if this is the case a lot of the spring traps we have at the moment will fail this ruling. With new traps coming through like the Kania, body grips and very soon a modified tube trap for mink we are at least working towards the new rules if they should be bought in. Killing times will vary greatly on the size of the target animal
  18. I agree Chalkwarren, with a 120 spring it would be an ideal trap for squirrels, I like the jaw size and with that spring it would be so quick. Change is on the horizon with the new EU directive and killing time will have to come down. 120-2
  19. You can use hardwood ashes like oak boiled up alternatively use Logwood Dye which is readily available in the UK for dying fabric but works ok on bodygrips. Both will give a black / brown colour.
