  1. Ted walsh was another good author same era as drabble, lurchers and longdogs was good reading, still got the old original copy dating back to the 70s, priice 5 pounds 25 pence tideline books.
  2. beautiful strong litter of pups absolute stunners, areal credit to you mate, just wish id been a bit closer wouldnt have hesitated in having one, just lost my lurcher due to a seizure only a young dog, to say im gutted would be an understatement. atb with the pup you kept back a belter.
  3. They certainly look it mate, sounds too me like you got a good combination there, if i was a bit younger lol, theywould definetly be in my kennels and worked like they were bred for.
  4. The knowledge and dedication of phil and lurchers can never be replaced, he was old school moocher and learnt his trade the proper way out on the land, never met the man, butfelt as i knew him by his books and his very early days writing his weekly column lloyd on lurchers, in the old shooting news. sadly the likes of phil will neverbe seen again, the lurcher world is a much sadder place without him. hunt on with the jukels in the next world. rip phil, deepest condolences to his wife and family.
  5. superb specimens, absolute credit to you, hope they do all you want and more mate.

  8. im not saying there isnt decent deerhounds lurchers out there, but it was a sad day when bill doherty packed up the dox hope kennels, didnt trevor cookland take them on , havent heard anything of him for a few years now, another bloke whose packed up now was andy barron from gisburn, believe he produced some reasonable stock.still got only one about me out of dave platts stuff does all i need these days.
  9. lets not forget anastasia noble, ardkinglass deerhounds, alan wilkinson who used to field some excellent deerhounds and deerhound xs, and john nuttal from holmes chapel, whou used to have an ad regular in old exchange and mart used to breed fom the enterkine strain of deerhounds, had a couple of him years ago price 15 pounds in late 70s.proper coursing strains of deerhound, sadly becoming a thing of the past, but i still rate them for what they are.

  12. really enjoy reading this thread about all these famous dogs years ago and present day and the lads and experts, that own them, even if lots get carried away and wreck a good topic.i have done a fair bit with coursing dogs when i was a younger man. one man that has not been mentioned but was up there with some of the best in his day andknew his dogs and how to condition them was Don Southerd had a cracking bitch lady and bred some good pups back in the 80s, used to be a keep fit fanatic, dead a good few years now mind, lot of you younger guys probably never even heard of him, reckon tats w

  14. beautiful looking pup you got there mate, nice height and good strong feet with strong looking bone, dont see many good examples about these days, wish i could come across something like that cross again ,make good all rounders, had some great times when i had mine, do you know what strain of bedlington was used. hope it does well for you atb.
  15. Fred, just my opinion but i would definetly say that dogs and ferrets from a good few years were bred from proper working stock, that were bred by genuine working dog men that used the dogs on all sorts whether it was day light, lamping or coursing and wouldnt tolerate stock that couldnt do the job they wanted them to do, they bred good honest worker to worker including terriers and ferrets, and were not money orientated and pumping litter and litter out of non working stock , and charging telephone numbers for them. the genuine dog men would cull hard . and would gift there dogs to mates and
