  1. Love seeing all these russell types, so want to keep this thread going. Here’s my old russell bitch. Knocking on in years now but still keen as mustard.
  2. Hello, I have an 11 year old jack Russell bitch. Her genitals have become quite swollen so I thought she was coming into season. This doesn’t seem to have happened and now she’s started to involuntarily leak what I think is urine. I’ve had a look online and seems it could be a number of issues. She’s never had a litter and not been spayed either. Keeping an eye on her. And think might be a job for the vet but I would like to hear if anyone else has come across this issue and what was the cause?
  3. I’ve fed raw before, but the dog was weened on it from being a pup, didn’t know any different and it kept him in fantastic shape tbh. Thought might be a little more problematic changing from the tinned and dry food mix, but maybe not the case then!? thanks for the replies.
  4. Hello I have an adult bitch that has been fed on tinned and dry mixer, and I’m thinking of transitioning her to raw and dry mix. I understand it should be done gradually so won’t be changing it overnight but Would just like to know if anyone has any tips or pointers before I start. Also any pitfalls and problems I should be looking out for. Thanks.
  5. Thanks fellas. Ordered a couple of books so will give them a good read and will keep them for future reference. But of course will always keep looking on here for any tips and information. ????
  6. Apart from the fantastic advice and guidance that is available on this forum, what books or other sources of information would any of you would recommend regarding the keeping of working ferrets and their welfare?
  7. View Advert Terrier This is a very reluctant post as Sadly I need to rehome my dog. I’m posting on here first because he is bred for work and has plenty of potential. He is a 10 months old, mixed terrier. Jack Russell, some bull terrier and some scent hound blood in there. Reason for rehoming him is I have a young family at home and my wife is struggling to cope with him and the kids while I’m at work. He’s a lovely dog but needs a firm and experienced hand to keep him in check and sadly I can’t be there all the time. He’s good with the kids, playful but a bit

This is a very reluctant post as Sadly I need to rehome my dog. He’s good with the kids, playful but a bit boisterous and excitable but never shown any aggression. He’s not aggressive towards other dogs either but again gets a little excited and would benefit from being around a few older, calmer dogs I think. He’s house trained, and good with basic commands although his recall is hit and miss, especially when he gets a sniff of something interesting so that might need a little more work. He’s a big lump of a lad as far as terriers go. Fit, strong and very capable. I bought him with a view to working him but it just hasn’t worked out and I haven’t been able to give him the time he needs. He’s keen and will make a great worker for someone that’s got the experience and knowledge to get the best out of him. He’s intact, had all his jabs, and up to date with flea and worm treatment. I’m not looking to make money from him, I just want him to go to a good, genuine, working home, as I think that’s what he needs. South yorks area. Please DM if interested.

  9. Thanks for your help fellas, got some drontal on order.??
  10. Yes of course would treat for worms whatever the diet, and he’s fully up to date with wormer from birth, but not sure the brand I’ve been using is the best. (Beaphar)? Will be changing brand for his next treatment so just wanting to know what people find the most effective to use as I hear raw feeding can be more problematic with worms.
  11. Hello, I have 7month old dog which I feed on raw meat and tripe, mixed with a good quality dry biscuit and a bit Chopped veg thrown in now and again. He’s seems to be thriving on the diet but I’ve been told or I’ve heard that dogs fed on raw are more likely to have trouble with worms. Is this true? If so I would like to know what is the best wormer on the market to keep the problem under control? I have two young kids at home and really want to minimise the risk of the dog passing anything on to them. Thanks.
  12. Hello, would just like a few pointers from the more experienced members than me on the best way or their particular methods of breaking terriers to livestock? I have a relative that keeps poultry on an allotment that would let me take my pup through, but he’s 5 months now and like most working bred terriers he’s feisty and excited by fur and feather. I wouldn’t want any nasty mistakes to happen so any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
  13. Hello there. I have a jack Russell pup coming in the next few weeks when he is ready to leave his mother. He’s from working stock and I am hoping to try him out when he’s ready. I would just like to get some advice or pointers from people on here as to what sort of diet you think is best for working terriers? I Want to keep him in best condition I can, strong and healthy. All comments very much appreciated.
  14. Wow thats a very generous offer. Thank you very much Jok. I’m sure he would love to try them out.
  15. ?yeah they look like decent bino’s them. He can’t fail with those surely!?
  16. My eldest son is coming up 7 this year and is starting to show an interest in wildlife and the countryside around us. I’ve told him I’ll get him a set of binoculars. It would be great if anyone here could give me any advice on what might be best to start him off with? Size wise, lenses, and magnification etc. Do they make binoculars specifically for children? If so which are best?
  17. Thanks, looking forward to getting back out there again.?
  18. Hello, I’ve just joined the site in last couple of days. Used to do a bit of rabbiting with my uncle when I Was a youngster. He’s no longer with us sadly. I’ve had a had terriers and ferrets in the past. And am looking towards getting a pup again sometime soon. Would like to try out a spot of ratting, see if my kids take a liking to sport. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
