  1. We got bears here Mark...loadsa bears...in the woods...they shit there too... It's a little known fact that bears ,wipe their arses with rabbits as shit doesn't stick to rabbit fur.All these spitz breed dogs are vocal, mainly baying at the animal until its dispatched by their master, course we got the endless tracts of country here to do that. Yes they are. I was pretty surprised that they make good lil tree dogs. They dont tree hard like a hound or anything but they are accurate sumbitches.
  2. Actually this has some good points except in yalls country with most of ya just moochin bout on rabbits and stuff the lil elkhounds would be an even better choice. If ya havent been around them then you might not believe this but they are some catty lil athletic sumbitches. They just move very snappy and very gracefully. They are a pleasure watch when you squirrel hunt with them. The lil b*****ds can run like the wind and they just leap and bound all over the place.
  3. I have no clue from personal experience but going by folks that I trust on the subject they say that sika are for training pups.
  4. I agree with you if you're running a few dogs together dan, the pup still sees a catch at the end of it even if he was off the pace and didnt contribute. A dog running on its own with an unexperieced handler, at that age, may decide it cant catch rabbits a after a few failed attempts. Long after it is physically able, mentally the dog thinks its a lost cause and this manifests in the dog jacking or just being indifferent to chase at all. Will pick up on the young handler's lack of confidence too, making everything that bit worse. Much easier when you've an older experienced dog for the pup to
  5. miles of North Sea. Near an oil rig or not? naw....... I get the feeling you lot ain't taking this serious........ Just about spit out my coffee.
  6. Just read up about it. It's called rabbit starvation and it applies to any high-protein only meat diet. So whatever dog you took, you'd be dead before the year was up. Unless it was a sausage dog - a big one. Jesus f**k you guys have to make it complicated lol. I never said you had to only eat rabbit, hare, deer...... You can eat sea weed for all I care lol. What would you drink? Pearl in a can and Jack Daniels black.
  7. But that picture of the yella dog on that lil gazelle werent a canned hunt? your the smart one dan work it out I already did and you talk out both sides of your mouth.
  8. Just make sure there is a gimp suite hangin in the closet and they be happy.
  9. But that picture of the yella dog on that lil gazelle werent a canned hunt?
  10. Well I'm gonna give ya a different answer fella. Take him for walks and let him be a pup. If a rabbit jumps up and he runs it so be it. Aint gonna hurt a damn thing. I let my pups start goin with the old dogs as soon as they decide to jump in the back of the truck. If its 5 months old then so be it. Do they get bit at times. Yep they sure as hell do. And the good ones even at 6 months old will get madder than hell once they get loose. The other ones, well I just dont care too much bout them.
  11. They divide opinion so much for the same reason all breeds of dogs do. There are folks that are breed blind and full of shit and then there are folks that dont care about what breed it is. Some of them are full of shit too. There are also folks that are breed supporters but will tell the honest to goodness truth. There is your answer to your question.
  12. These salukis must be super dogs. Only dogs I ever heard of that dont have bout 90% culls. I best get me one. NOT!
  13. i think the lad only whats to mooch about with it dan not run what you do think he would be made up with a few bunnies in the bag you cracked yank He oughta get him a damn beddyxwhippet then. LOL!
  14. But for their good points. Yes they were psychotic and game crazy and would chase hard and fast. So much power and so much explosive speed but I had a Blue gyp when they got out there a good 1/4 mile she would start takin over and outrun them after a half mile or so. But they left the truck like their asses were on fire for sure. I mean damn they was quick. And every one of them fought hard but I know if they was sore and tired ever they would have quit right now.
  15. I've had a few here and the ones I had would have definately jacked without question. Every single one of them got hurt and every single one of them was a pussy footed sumbitch and when the poor lil feet started hurtin my damn hounds could outrun the cock suckers. I cant see how folks can sit here and say they wont jack and this and that. And back to them gettin hurt. When they got hurt they werent like my dogs at all. They would sulk ass around about it and act like they were gonna die. My dogs will run with a damn leg hangin off and never act like it happened. I aint braggin on them e
  16. I gonna retract my statement after thinkin bout it just a bit. It dont matter what kinda track dog. They all shit so either way you f****d. LOL!
  17. But that beind said pure greyhound blood is such an awful poor choice that I would have to try to go with the longer dogs. I just think its the worse decision ever to make good dogs.
  18. Although I wouldnt personally breed to a track greyhound ever I totally agree with you. thanks, so much emphasis is put on a coursing greyhounds speed ie the run up which to me only proves one thing which is fastest in a straight line of maybe 2 or 300yds would allowing the hare more law not also test stamina, agility, durability etc? Ya and if I absolutely had to use a track dog it would have to be a 9/16ths type and not one of them 1/4 milers. i understand and kinda agree that the stamina thing is important but is that not one of the reasons we cross other breeds into the

  20. And I assume that the staghound types that Dan and his countrymen uses are descended from the original deerhounds brought over by settlers 200 years ago when deerhounds were purely working type rough haired greyhounds bred for ability not show. In the intervening years the yanks have continued to breed for performance....and against bigger, more dangerous quary than anything our dogs have to tackle. Meanwhile the deerhound over here has probably gone in the opposite direction, being mainly selected for a handsome profile, coat type and height. No matter that one or two people have been trying
