Im doing that pal now hes in with one of the hens now. Guna pull him out at the evening an introduce him back in the morning that's when she starts laying pal. Swap eggs over for dummys until she's layed last one. Then put him in with the other hen. A think she'll be fine bringing the clutch up on her own. Or might try see if he'll keep up with both hens. In the wild the goldie cock has two hen's on the go. So will have a bash.

Mesh on now guys. Was reading something about painting the mesh black on one of the recent posts on here. One of my other pens has powered coated on it the green you can buy. My birds are all in indoor pens but one would think with the black mesh " an fokes saying you can see the birds better " wouldnt that attacked unwanted predator's to your pens being outdoors ? ie raptor's , cats , Maggies. I know many will have double meshed pens but still them scaryin the birds especially when nesting.

Been up a bit this topic an hope you've got the answer your looking for. If not place the bird in your hand an with the other use a dining needle an cotton. Hold the cotton thumb an finger and hang the needle just above the vent of the bird. If the needle starts to swing in a circle it's a hen if it starts to go up and down from head to tail it's a Cock hope this helps

cheers mate just meshed them up today and fitted the fixture for guttering that I'm using as feeders just behind the feeding doors so I'm not in and out can easy unclip and clean plus I've put deviders on the guttering for egg food , seed an greens.

Ive a Greeny cock sat at side wanting some action nipper pal. So once ive seen that cocks tredding the greeny hen an there's a clutch of chicks you know the rest. Will swap him over to help with the feeding an move him out of the way. Better colours if you use a Timbrado cock over the greeny hen.
