  1. I have young children and trust my dogs as much as a dog can be trusted, I never put my dogs or kids in a situation where there could be a problem. The dogs are supervised with the kids. They are kenneled but do come in the house occasionally, I have had a few dog bites and realise the damage they can do, my sister had surgery on her face after a bite from a bearded collie when she was a baby.
  2. £50 is a bargain. I had mine made 8 years ago and back then it cost me £400.
  3. I'd only ever used a mark 1 collar but have bought a mark 3, not used it yet, first time willbe this week but the noise is bloody annoying. Prefered the geiger counter sound from the mark 1
  4. That's cos you be a lady Me and my mates from the rugby club used to drink power shandy's using Smirnoff Ice....Christ it used to get you going You had to get a pint of Stella....drink what you thought was half of it and then top up with Smirnoff Ice. If the resultant mix was less or more than a pound coins width from the top of the glass then you had to skull the lot Power shandys sound interesting As for being a lady, I drink Smirnoff ice the butch way, straight from the bottle
  5. Flavoured vodka is nice, my favourite drink is Smirnoff Ice, my friends tend to chuckle at my girlie tipple
  6. Just renewed mine, quoted between £450-550 by many companies including NFU and took a policy with a specialist 4x4 insurance company for £385 only for my wife to get a quote the same day I started the policy for £260 with Norwch Union, I changed but it cost me a £40 cancellation fee.....
  7. I've been lucky as a relative works for a tyre company and has done me a set of 50/50 tyres for my Navara that retail at £660 a set for £260. I spoke to some other companies before who told me that Colways have gone out of business?
  8. Get some pics up Rich, and if you like Vodka then t has to be Blackberry
  9. I used to be amazed reading about some of the breeds used in the lines of pig dogs, wolfhounds, Great Danes and various others that we class as useless but you guys use very effectivley. How often do you manage to get out pigging? Do you hunt all year round or just winter time?
  10. Yes a little romantic with the story telling but a good read anyway
  11. A mate bought a S/S 410 this weekend, about £6 for a box of 25 he said Colins at Wragby, isn't that the tiny shop run by the old boy?
  12. Some cracking pics Rich, I remember those were in EDRD years ago FJager the old boy looks a real solid lump of a dog

Sorry I missed that, any plans to repeat it?
  15. Got this book for christmas and I have read another of his books before. Its full of stories about Africa and mainly dangerous wildlife such as lions, elephant, Cape buffalo and leopard. He was a professional hunting guide in various African countries in the 60's and 70's, some of the tales seem a little tall but the guy can spin a yarn.
  16. gnipper, you could get old blankets and towells from charity shops if the dogs shreds them. Mine occasionally shred the fleece bedding but I have supply, although thats running low. I got a couple of rolls at the midland a couple of years ago.
  17. Bullsmilk that defeats the object doesn't it? The idea is to get a collar that only has a couple of inches slack around the neck, this then prevents too much force in the check.
  18. My kennels are sheltered from the wind and are built behind my garage. The kennels have a draught excluded entrance and the bedding area is small to enable them to maintain body temp. I also put in lots of fleece bedding. I also ensure my dogs are never kenneld wet.
  19. A "CHECK" chain is a usefull tool if used "correctly". As with any tool it depends on the temperament of the dog. The dog should receive a quick check and then release, unfortunately most people take the word choke litterally and let the dog throtle itself for the entire walk before dismissing them as useless.............................
  20. White gums is not a good sign, the mucous membranes should be salmon pink. White gums could indicate anemia, shock or somertimes indicate underlying problems such as tumors, don't mean to scare you but i'd say a vet visit is in order.
