  1. Hi mate as daft as it sounds is the dog warm enough a cold dog will howl, who wouldn't. The reason I ask is this, last season I had a different van one in which you could reach through to the back from the cab. On the way home after a day's ferreting there where in the back in cage NOT a whimper....perfect..... this season I've got a different van with a closed in back(no access from front cab)and on my first few outings there whimpered and howled a little in back I could not work out why this was. That was until I seen the ice on the inside roof of the van and realised the

  10. ,Free permission is the way if we all had to pay to control "vermin" many would leave the sport and seek illegal pursuits. However i also can understand lanndowners gaining some extra revenue business is business i surpose. good post though.. matt
  11. the idea of putting a rabbit in the same cage as a ferret to help it get on working is a load of sh*ite a complete myth!!!!!!!!!!,and totally against what we are all about....
  12. ,if it wont work then it wont work you could spend the next 2 years trying and still nothing, however if it has a laid back temperment and good to handle why not give it to someone as an introduction to ferrets? forget the posts about knocking on the head that sort of attitude is not welcome!!!!!!! good luck
  13. the BLUE EYE yes a fantastic lamp with a super tight beam....but that’s about as far as it goes the bulbs filament drops out with the slightest knock and 15 year ago it was £20 to replace an absolute nightmare. I got rid of mine because I was sick of buying new bulb units..... Matt
  14. he is a deer/grey x collie/grey 2 years, old lovely dog.
  15. yep no probs,if he is still really nervous this could be why he has no interest in much else maybe because he won’t focus his mind where it should be.. I think if you can crack his nervous temperament you will see a different dog.... Has anybody got any advice on a nervous dog? Matt
  16. spun nylon and 6z plus handle same as hemp without rotting,i had hemp years ago and learned the hard way even if you hang them up to dry they still dont last mate good luck matt
  17. hi mate well at least your catching some,as regards to the nets id stay away from hemp!!!!!! And before we all start about debate on hemp nets being first class,, there are i agree but there ROTT and dont last there are much better products available today. so my advice would be to buy spun nylon or 6z plus nylon, stay away from 4z nylon nets also.... good luck matt

  20. hi mate don’t waste any time and get yourself set up to go ferreting if you send me your address I will post you a book or two (free of charge) to read through..... I agree the best way is hands on but to read through a book can also give you good knowledge and basic skills with care feeding etc and will give you a bit of inspiration to get out doing it atb matt
  21. Hi all I arranged with a friend "Jimmy" last night to go ferreting, we met this morning around 8.30 and got straight to it. The start was slow, we done 3 sets with not even a bolt however there were plenty of signs of activity around the sets prints, pee and droppings. However eventually drop on a few. The weather kept on our side with a bit of snow at the end which I do love when ferreting..... We ended up with 12, a few digs and a couple for the dog with 1 or 2 hitting the long net all in all a great day out!!!!!!! matt
