  1. ya nah i get it now your saying to many claim to have what they dont have
  2. im confussed so if it's not hunting all day every day it's not an allrounder, why? the bottom line is if it catches all game and retirves jumps marks night day in all terrian and alll that other crap its an allrounder. allrounder dosent wonder dog it means it can do everything resonably succsefull at the magority of expections of a dog. its not impossible to get because it's not the prefect dog. i think the proberlem with you is your expecting the dog to be the best at everything i'll tell you what a runner cant scent like a beagal and can't den like a terrier can't work sheep like a kelpie an
  3. an allrounder should catch all the usall game that running dogs are breed for in any circumstance that specialist dogs do but possibly with a lower catch rate on a few of the animals. i'd consider my whippet stag an allrounder roughly 20inches 20-22kg he's predominatly a fox dog but he's not 100% at anything but he's 90% at every thing. for example if i ran him on 5 hares he'd catch 2 or 3 if i ran him on 10 foxes he'd catch 7 or 8 if i ran him on 20 rabbits he'd catch 15 -16 and any bigger game he'd catch but not kill aswell so if he was mabey four inches biger he'd be a better dog so im gan
  4. good looking dogs, wonder if there is really any difference between the american staghounds and aussie ones, all those dogs look very similar are they related to one another?
  5. unless i misread you had a ago at me for knowing what i want, hows that different?
  6. stabbed them if im in a rush saves time or if they have a pup good from about four months old our pups are running with the big dogs but they usally arnt much good untill 7-8 months , i dont see an issue with it if it's for the right reasons. ill run them duobled and if theres not many about everything in the ute gets a chew i know agian i'll proberly be had a go at about running the dogs young but we've never had a pup brought up this way that hasnt hit hard by 12 months and would happily kill on it's own and by 6,7,8 months of age we know if it's worth keeping. just the way i do it we it.
  7. a red fox is a red fox dosent matter what country it's in it's still a fox, making a fox dog a fox dog no matter what counrty it lives in do you think that if i ran my dogs in england they would be any less and catch a lower precentage. for some reason you seem to think that since iv had different experiences to you somehow means that i cant know anything if anything you should realive i know different things and thats why for some reason you think the most simple of expectaions of a dog is impossble when there more then achivable and many poms would have achieved what i ask of my dogs. iv als
  8. your ferrets chased them out of rabbit burrows have they?
  9. thats not much to ask of a dog iv had plenty, and so have my mates, that 'tick' all the boxes so to speack it's not easy to get like that but it's far from asking to much. also had heaps that are lacking and arnt sutible the more you turn over the more chances you've got of finding a good one, i'v had heaps of s**t dogs aswell who hasnt? have every dog of yours been up to your expectaions? proberly you dont seem to have any other wise you would have siad so. and as for adam he'd only kept a dog if it kills by the chest hows that for asking to much? and the stabbing thing was an insult i didn
  10. b.f. must be thinking day time, although i know dog thats can ute finding like a pig dog would at night if its slow driving and another two that would be capable given the chance. back to the original topic i think a proper fox dog should be able to find a fox in the day in any terrian and catch it, mark a den, work with terriers, never fight dogs, draw well, listen 100%, jump fences and on or off the ute, follow the beam, be absolutly silent as you whistle a fox in as it watches it, kill with minimal damage (naturaly) and most importantly never give up. and irronically it should also tak
  11. firstly it's no different, a good dog should be able to do it all, in any bloody country. secondly "i'm not your f*****g mate" i appriciate the apology. thirdly i actualy belive we've got somwhere we've all agreed they die fast by grabing the ribs but it's better for the dogs when they grab the neck. dont understand why you would actually want your dog to get hurt by a fox but whatever im sure you stab them in the face every know and agian just to see if there tough enough to take it as well
  12. there must be a delay. if you want your dogs to retire then run them doubled if you want them to die run them on there own they have so many chances that they do it fiarly often wthout forcing it on them. qeustioning how much i hunt is getting quite irritating it seems that its the whole im old so im better at it thats bulsh*t and its a pathetic argument you dont know anything about me. iv seen the terrian through dvds the land in england is ten times better for the dogs then what we have other then the rocky padocks. is my age is offencive to you tell me why? do you think i lack the experie
  13. nah he had to edit it only had the first sentance
  14. hahahaha i would never keep a dog that could catch and kill on its own and anyone who puts dogs onn a pig one out is doing nothing risking there dogs lives piontlessly, comparing a pig dog to a fox dog is ridiculas but for your benifit any runners iv put on a pig have held hard the whippet x staghounds iv got held a 75kg boar for kalf an hour before the holders got there these dogs wiegh 22kg and stand at about that in highet they got there asses kicked but never gave up. pigs are only up northern aus and about 600km before i could get near them. theres another thing you foget my dogs not only
  15. and you get to haer the foot steps and if they catch somthing the sqeal and the panting yuo get right into it you feel like your there
  16. na na your mis understanding, and shot gunning of the ute witha semi in a 600 acare paddock is one of the most fun things you'll ever do especially if your pissed as long as the bloke holding the gun isnt. and ya we talk and get pissed and muck around and yell but onyl after we've had a fare share of fun, but it cracks us up they way ya say shit and get in to it so seriously i love it. what ever you do dont block out the talking it's half the fun
  17. thought that would get a response, mate iv had as many as 15 runners and five terriers on a fox and got photos, we hunt differently to you we hunt at day in drives and when one dog starts running they all do and we get big numbers, mate id happily put any dog of ours agianst anyone of yours out find, out catch and kill faster, day or night in any terrian. thats what i hate alot about this most of you blokes seem only to have owned half a dozen dogs at the most and have only watched that many hunt agian so how can you really make a descion on such limited knowledge? 30 foxes in a year is nothin
  18. iv seen alot of foxes die, alot of different ways with alot of different breeds and heaps of different dogs iv found the best way to kill a fox is with five dogs. but the fastest way to kill a fox is grab it under the cheast like the fox is on it's back the crush the ribs in. its also not good for the dogs can easily lose an eye, safest way for the dogs is by the throat it just takes longer and iv got the time
  19. if there killing foxes there killing foxes theres nothing else to it,
  20. ya talk abit, dont have music it cracks us aussies up how you poms talk when hunting its a pisser, love those one liners
