I took the HW100 for a walk round the new permission today - the one that I got a few weeks ago. I spent 4hrs looking around and still haven't covered it all
There's a cricket pitch and pavilion in the middle of one of the woods. It's got rabbit scrapes and droppings all round the perimeter - we're going back for a look at that again tomorrow night
It's at the end of a 1/4 mile track and, it's never been shot before
They only gave me permission because I know the owners daughters. Requests are usually refused outright.
Today was mainly about exploring but, while walking through one of the copse, I spotted movement high up in a pine tree. I had a look through the scope and, there he was, a squirrel. He took a JSB Heavy clen to the side of the head.
He swung down off the branch but, hung there by a back foot for what seemed like ages. When he finally let go, he came down through the branches, dead as a door nail, and landed right in front of my feet
It was only when I picked him up that I realised, this was the first squirrel that I'd shot in around 20yrs. The last one would have been with my old .22 BSA Mercury Challenger in the woods back home when I was a kid.
Well, what can I say - it tastes like chicken
I think this permission, once I get to know it properly, is going to be fantastic. I've been getting very bored with my PCP lately - this'll give me the opportunity for some good day time forays with the TX.
Also, we bumped into a few people while on the land today - they were all polite, friendly and, not at all put out by the rifles.
The old girl that owns it all is a proper old money, eccentric type. Mad as a hatter but, very nice and genuine.
...... this is going to be a good 'un

The T Rex 200 is one crap rifle. ( not)
I have the TX 200 HC mk 3 .177 version.
Since my pigeon drawings and targets are getting on JJ`s and Mac`s nerves, would a photo or two of one in action, ( er, herm, - including pigeons etc ) be of any help Harry ?
" Rat Works tuned of course "
I like your drawings really - the one of the chap with the hat on still makes me chuckle

TX200hc with a walnut stock, in either calibre. It's solid, reliable, accurate, easy to work on and THE nicest looking rifle that money can buy
Of course, I am extremely biased
But, if I had to give up all of my rifles tomorrow, losing this one would upset me the most.
A decent used example will fit your budget nicely

Just an old raider
I don't think you'll regret that purchase
Bought it mateLets put it this way dj if you dont buy it i will at that price
once iv fixed the tank lol
atvbjimmy
Thought if I don't get on with it I'll flog it on and look again.
Now just gotta sell the HD sport and the panorama lol ? (
What rifle are you putting it on?
But don't say it too loud or Mac might hear.
Might even strip the stock and oil it
'Just an old Raider' - Feck me John, you'll have Mac on here putting pics up now
Seriously, sounds like a nice set up. It'd be good to see before and after pics of the stock if you decide to go for it

Hi Jemma,
Welcome to the forum.
It could be down to the pellets that you're using. Most air rifles perform best with some kind of round nose diablo type pellet. Springers tend to prefer a light weight pellet.
I get decent results with Falcon Accuracy Plus pellets but, you could also look at JSB RS, Air Arms Express, H&N Sniper Light.
Good luck with it.

Spot on Gary. I test mine the same way.30 yards gives a slight indication but 50 yards is where I notice the real compatible pellets shine.

I bred a litter of ferrets about 4 year ago..and a mixed race lad came for some,,,he was from Lancashire ,,or Manchester way if I remember right,,,I think he comes on here,,but keeps out of all the discussions ,,semmed a nice lad...
There was some Asians that were in to the coursing,,,didn't they own that dog that had the 10 min run on film...
And of course I'm doing my bit,,introducing my little ethnic lad the world of hunting,,lol
Always good to see kids getting involved and learning/enjoying the sport
Well done to you sir.

Nice, I hope one day my 100 will shoot like that
Your 100 should shoot like that at 30yrds with the right pellet

They're good scoped DJ, I also like the SCB ret. I did find that the Vipers worked better for me.
But, I sold the Viper and bought a Hawke Airmax with AMX ret and, I haven't looked back since

I've seen a couple of these that have been done really well where the end of the stock was shaped to fit the bottle.
This ain't one of them
It would be nice to have a huge shot count from an HW100 but, it just looks wrong.

All these lefties saying we should let these immigrants in should be made to put them up in a room in their own homes and pay for their food' medical bills and keep.
See how many want it then.
It should not be forced on those that don't want mass illegal immigration.
And those that don't want it should certainly not be made to pay for it thru higher taxes and cuts to out own services ect to find the money to pay for them.
I agree.
Give them a couple of houses in Connaught square and, chuck in an ethnic shop. Then we'll see how many our politicians want to let in.

Them jackets Flipper Al were selling on here were as good as owt with a fleece underneath I would look into ex army gear tbh if your on a tight budget.
Yep, army surplus smock. Hard wearing and plenty of pockets. You'll also have lots of change from the original budget

Glad you got there in the end FT
I've heard some good things about those scopes on pcps. I'd like to know what you think of it on your springer after you've spent some time with it please.

I've never tried them Rez but, aren't they just JSB Exacts in a different tin?
I just looked at some on line, they weigh the same at 8.44gn.
I've tried the Weihrauch Magnums, they work well. I think they're Bis Mags.

The New Permission .......
in Airgun Hunting
Posted
Jesus Mac - you'll need to move on site to cover that lot
David very kindly measured my other permission for me. It came out at 33 acres. I recon this new one is maybe 10x the size.
That's a conservative estimate - the land has some weird shaped boundaries that I have to be careful of.
