  1. DOH what day is it.........I@VE BEEN BUSY OK
  2. a well known south wales gunshop may cease trading, its a rumour ,anyone heard anything ?
  3. Okay lads, I ordered a SPS varmint today. There won't be a mod at all so I can handle the weight if not....chop chop. You can take it off but you can't stick it on as they say. A couple off others were options but pushed the budget. I'll sit with the trigger just now and see how it goes, that can always be done later. Its in the proof house for the next seven days, then I'll see what the score is.
  4. Was that the standard SPS FJ, I probably won't put a mod on for sometime and I do like the weight the Tactical could be the answer Mr Logic. I have already replied too this but its vanished so I'll thank you guys again for the feedback its always good to have people to bounce your thoughts off, cheers.
  5. Too true Mr Logic, I currently have a tikka 243 and wildcat yet I prefer my Steyer Jagdmatch SL with no mod weight wise, maybe because its more compact and I think heavier than a naked tikka. I have tried the Tikka varmint and the weight felt ok, today I fondled the Remmy in same guise and it was ok, though the barrels a bit long and made it all feel unbalanced. I like the weight though, the stock I,m sure is reincarnated from an actionmans set up it seemd tiny. The other thing is the all important budget, I wish I had more money but there you go, and the remmy lends itself too after market im
  6. I've wondered that for years myself !!.
  7. I have some permission up north to which the 308 is more suited and some pigs on the farm and on the ticket. My backs ok but my knees in tatters
  8. Evening everyone, just a question too the oracles out there. I ve got a variation through for a .308 and am looking at the 700 varmint. However with a mod on will I need a truss too carry it. The mod won't be on all the time. And whats the view on the Howa 1500. Cheers
  9. Thanks guys, I should have mentioned shes in her 8/9th month so Akiro, the in season explanation is probably true, you just get so used too them being a pup you overlook the obvious. Kiwi I do endorse as you said too. I am being carefull as one off the breed books I read stated that between the 6-9mnth period they are psycologically vulnerable and too be carefull off how heavy you endorse your actions. Like I said, I should have mentioned her age. I'll keeep on as I am till we get through this. I have too say, I am altogether very impressed by the learning capability and temperment off the br
  10. Kiwi, been going on with my bitch, general obedience and some retrieving. For no reason 3 days ago she just became really cheeky . Not coming to heel not entering the kennel and generaly disobedient. Now I've kept it intresting, and not been pushy is this a phase they have. She had been doing so well. I ain't losing patience but its a real backward step. Or is it.
  11. .......aye its a tough one !!!!!
  12. Gary I should,ve checked the mate, this time I will
  13. Is it just me, if I buy a £6.99 table from Ikea I get all the tools. If I spend £500 + on a scope then buy mounts even the same make I don't recall ever getting an allen key too fit or even a slip off paper advising on the gauge. Is it too much too expect. I lost the one for my optilok and trying too get an exact fit is a pain and the one I had ,I had had for such a long time there was no visible gauge on it. Some are starlok as well. It would be so easy for the manufacturer too do......or is it just me
  14. Okay it has to be P,F and ...................AW, and next The B B and T'Was with out hesitation .
  15. Sorry folks this pic is crap can't see a thing  I'll look for the other.
  16. At last....feck me I,ve done the same thing 200 times and ..tarragh it pops up the photo, any way,we had people coming over so no going out this evening and after the s---e night last night I took a wee walk. I,m up a steep bank (not the one in the photo) over looking 9acres towards a 40acre patch of woodland. It was bright and sunny, about 5.30 and I thought about heading back down the house to get ready, one last scan and hey ..at last..some bunnies. Took the one on the left broadside up in the air but it was this second shot on the one 70yds too its right. On hearing the shot it stopped jus
  17. struggling with the photos again...bear with me.
  18. Me too Ditch and thats why put it up here. I thought off mink as theres a good stream 50ft away and the farm cats though as we don't "feed" them they would never never leave a carcase like this so if Snaresman can shed some light it would be welcomed. Cheers.
  19. Yep Ditch.........its just as I described. Neck broke right back etc, in fact My first thought when peering through the leaves was what would pluck a pheasnt that well and not eat it then I realised the skin was off. I dont think it had been hung for 2wks either and it was still a neat job ! Down the neck too its feet.........no skin, scatterd feathers and a little bit off muscle tissue gone.
  20. Evening all, out mooching tonight and I stuck my nose into the gully down one side off the farm, I had been checking for signs as we've had some boar rooting up in the fields. As I looked about I spotted in the bottom of a hedge feathers and further looking revealed the skinned carcase of a pheasant. The neck waas broken right back and some muscle gone off the back otherwise it was all there. A pile off feathers scatterd about but no skin apparent though. No access to people or dogs the gully is a known badger run and I stay on top off the foxes. Any ideas..weasel,stoat, though like I said

    Life

Got back from the shooting(clays) and as I drove down the single lane there were daffs in the full sunshine on the verge as a snowstorm blew from clouds I could not see, in a clear blue sky. I got home and jumped on the quad to check up the land as we have wild-boar damage on two fields and as I made my way the snow stopped...so did I as I spyed two swifts courting over the spring grass swirling and diving........honestley and all in 45 mins...wonderfull. Then I got two rabbits on the way back for dinner......superb.
  22. Absolutley BRILLIANT................laugh, and the OUCH
  23. Whatever ..........push-me, shove-you.....wtf. It was a firearm, that brings US ALL into disrepute. Does not matter wether a poacher or game keeper does it. Its those of us that use them legally that carry the can too. Oh yes, the anti's won't they love it too, more fuel for their fire..........well done ..whoever
  24. Thats bad, real bad. Farlap did she hear a shot or suspected a shot. Anyway if it is someone with an FAC or SGC they have acted too help the Anti's and acted so unresponsible it beggars belief. That is beside all the pain for the family.......scum.
