    The Broken beam. The coffins in a line to the church were over 2 miles long. Mass grave, and memorial.

    My Gt Gt Gt Grandad, James Amour, the back overman,- trapped underground with over 200 other men and boys, in 1862, The Hartley Colliery Disaster, in New Hartley. The single shaft became blocked, when the 42 ton pumping engine beam snapped, sending one half crashing down the shaft, when both day shift and night shift were all down there for the shift change-over. They were all trapped alive, but all died a few days later when the stythe gas got them. His 14 year old son also died with him.

    Thank you, i have pig hunting. Its Beagling or Foxhounds mainly for a mate of mine, now disabled, but he used to follow them a lot. Just something for him to watch. I did get some, but wouldn't mind a good beagling one for him. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Dave
