  1. absolutely agreed Then good working jackets should have been fixed by breeding correctly. Good coats were produced by doubling on San lines,in addition to substance, courage and nose. Certain dogs were woefully over used at one time imo. There are good coats produced by some breeders today though... I've never seen a bad coat on a plummer, I can only think its in other lines than the ones I've owned,WM
  2. Its not about acceptance but about a true representation of the breed, they are knocked from pillar to post by lads that either disliked Plummer himself or the middle class ownership of 95% of the registered ones,by holding separate shows and not really mixing well most laypeople have no idea of their capabilities or uses, most think of them as a ratter, when in fact they are all rounders, as for staged pics then be it a family photo or anything else they are all staged to a degree and it would do terrier work no favours to exhibit pics of the action,up front and personal shots when viewed coldly
  3. I just happened to meet "Plummer" at my mates farm in Kirkby"Liverpool,he'd been coursing and collecting information for a new book,we only really killed fox with our terriers back then (1979) and he gave us 2 to test for him on fox,so it all started there really and I just found them another tool for the places we did back in the day, mainly dodgy places you couldn't dig and needed a quick bolt and gone, they were tiny and could fly round any earth in minutes,WM
  4. I kept mainly small Nuttall gear but they got too much stick for living in town,my kids couldn't take them out on a lead for people asking "what happened to the dog ?" I also kept a red bitch bred by "George Hardie" of the fell and moorland that killed almost everything to ground and it was a race to dig down to her before she ate it,you can get sick of seeing them sat in sick bay for 2 weeks at a time, just my opinion but I prefer a bolt anyway and move on,WM
  5. No squabbling, just healthy discussion, could also inform a few that think these are only ratters, WM
  6. This was a Plummer we had off "Curtis Price" in the 90's that never once took a backward step under the sod,had to be retired early due to the amount of damage he sustained, not my sort really and a poor nose for a Plummer,WM
  7. those that want to see a few pics,WM even travelling right through he never had much sh*te on him easy bolt from a known drain 5 accounted for in a few minutes
  8. I love this place, next it will be my lurcher never caught the rabbit, hawks don't catch nothing, ferrets never flush a rabbit,Plummers can't bush,I've bolted foxes with a ferret doing a warren, horrible mangy little vixen weighing about 8lb,if a fox is ready to go they sometimes bolt before the dogs halfway in,some will sit near the mouth of a hole, took them off every possible place you can imagine and yes white based terriers will always look clean under a flash but on that occasion it was a shallow sandy earth and all over in a flash,a couple of shakes later she's clean, the pic was taken later
  9. DC,all the pups will see work of different sorts,as said these are all rounders, not digging dogs, those that want out and out digging dogs will not want a Plummer, those that source these dogs normally do a bit of everything, when I was a younger man and dug most days I kept fells and patts, etc,we keep the tools we require for the job,as regards breeding then, my pups are always born in my house ,if its summertime then they will be moved outside at 4 weeks, but wintertime, they will never see the outside until they go to their new homes,I am no better than the next man, brought up on a council estat
  10. I enjoy taking a good pic,I have a few reasonable cameras and some half decent lenses that I have bought myself over the past few years,I haven't had chance to get it out for a while but intend to take plenty of pics this next few months, I started with a bridge camera, nothing special and took it everywhere, here's a few shots from it,WM
  11. Pabs, its like most infill sites that had black rabbits living amongst the wild, they just pop up from time to time, there's been nothing tipped round there for 20yrs but that black gene is hard to eradicate,WM same place, different colour but still dark
  12. Hello FD,the whole litter was well sold before coming back on, I had to leave due to "real life",I was in no fit state for banter due to the loss of my best mate, best man at my wedding and godfather to my oldest son, same week lost my cousin, only 50yrs old, then my mate who's been battling cancer for 12months took a turn for the worse and I have spent a fair bit of time helping him till last week when he passed away peacefully,so life in general gets put into some perspective, makes you think whats important in your life, this internet lark is only messing about,I fit it in when I'm home and if i
  13. I agree with discussion and would never knock another mans choice,we all keep the things we like in life whether thats cars, animals or even wives lol's,some do though go out of their way to make it personal,WM
  14. I showed interest in one from a previous litter and was told probably not for me lol ffs at that price he can keep themI know you did and as I said at the time a Plummer is not for you,I ask a lot of questions to people and if I don't think one is suitable then I will say so,I've also been and taken them back if I've heard they were not being treated right, its what a responsible breeder does,I'm sorry if its not what people want to hear but it is the only responsible way to be,money does not come first,I have never sold a pup to anyone on this site,WMyou never asked me a single question, still
  15. I do not breed for money but for the advancement of the breed,I believe in the quality of my pups and I look to spread them all around this country whenever I can,I used to keep 3 bitches at home but now only keep 2 and 1 dog, there are a few bitches out being worked by mates that I can always have a pup from, this is my first litter in 18 months and certainly not a massive money maker,if I wished to make money I would keep french bulldogs, etc, everyone who rears pups does it for their own reasons,I have been without my best bitch for 4 weeks when really I could of done with her,but it fell when

  17. Mole265,I've never hid the fact I keep and breed Plummer responsibly and certainly never need to come on here to advertise a litter, anything I put on here is about discussion,WM

  19. Pablo,I have given them to lads I know and my mates have had plenty down the years but how do you give them to people cheap that you don't know,if somebody is prepared to travel, stay overnight even then drive back 7 hours then the chances are they will look after their chosen pup, I never sell to just anyone,I ask a lot of questions and try my best to source the best homes for my pups, these pups can be sold for a lot more than I charge,I would say they will do exactly whats asked of them in the right hands, people don't buy them as out and out digging dogs but as a genuine all round dog, mine h
  20. I like them 2 on the right look nice straight front and steardy mate credit to you.so what's the biggest litter you will get as I've heard 3 is a good litter with them that tightly bred. 9,I hold the record, previously it was 8,my average is 5 or 6, I take pride in what I breed, been at it since 1979 so it comes easily for me and my wife,WM
  21. Thought it was a bit quiet on here still so time to re-join the madhouse thats THL, F.D has been too quiet without somebody to troll lol's, so here is some ammo for the "Plummer hater's" love them or hate them they are a very popular little terrier and I could of sold 100,the demand for bitches is high at the moment, last time it was dogs, they were a very even litter with no quiet pups, should make good "all rounders" with a little work from the new owners. this is what you get for 300 pounds, quality pups from decent working parents of good health,no faults,no registration and a great mix of old
  22. All the best to Andy for a speedy recovery
