Ferret Finder Anybody Not Use One?

Does everyone use one? If not then how often do you lose a ferret? Or do you have another method like tying string to them or similar?

I wouldn't put anything to ground without one, ferret or terrier, it's the least you can do in this day and age

Plenty people I know dont use them and their always losing ferrets. I wouldnt be without one. T bars and lining dont work over here the burrows are too deep and long most of the time. I dont give kits to anyone who doesnt have a finder either, that includes mates.

remember as a kid spending bloody hours trying to dig me ferret out with a stick. The ferret climbed over and killed and got stuck on the wrong side jammed tight. Was just following the pipes stuffing a poxy bramble along the tube. Must been there all day. Could had it out in 5 minutes with a locator. Just pure luck we found it

I wouldnt put a ferret to ground without a collar on it now days work some funny places in different regions and never lost a ferret

You've got a duty to ensure your animals safety, even if it is 'only a ferret'

 

A locator is step 1 and should always work but knowing where you can borrow a cage trap from to leave out if the ferret gets itself somewhere unreachable (under a building, big tree or somewhere daft like that) so you can return later that night or the following morning just gives you the ability to wait for a stuck ferret without having to physically wait.

 

I don't carry a cage with me, but I've always got one at home if I need it and I'm generally never more than 20 minutes from home on any of my perms.
