Whats your thoughts on Bisley Magnums? Peace. Bisley make decent pellets all round, and you tend to pay for it. The pellet needs to be matched to the gun/intended use. The Bisley Magnums are good, but heavy in all calibres, and "generally" best suited to higher power guns, for instance 30ft lb + in .22, below 30ft lb I would suggest lighter pellets, there are several around 15-17g worth looking at! Start putting a heavy pellet in a .177 and you start losing what a .177 is all about, and may just as well use a .22. There is some discussion sometimes about this, which relates to the .20 calibre more so I think, when we hear "Whats the point in .20?" When you can get heavy 177 pellets and so on. The real difficulty here is we are talking 12ft lb max (for most people), any perceived positive or negative effect can only be measured in small quantities It is not a major league player, despite the fact it has been around many years now, so the debate will continue. I have a very respected friend in the air gun world who swears by his .20, on the other hand I have no place for one! If it works for the individual then fine. 3 Quote Link to post

They must be doing the job mind, been around longer than me. A few of my FAC buddies swear by them, a 40ft/lb rapid will put them through an inch of board at 50yards. Not much gets up after being hit. Come to think of it, Im not sure he knows what wounding means... What would that 1 inch board be made of, 100ft lb .22lr will struggle to go through 1 inch of "decent" wood at 50 yards! Iv seen them go through ply wood at a lot less lbs than that but what do i know you have all the answers mac It was a valid question, you air gun boys seem to think your air rifles possess magical properties very often, I have 12 ft lb and FAC air, and a whole load of other rifles, and yes, I have most of the answers, thats what happens over the years. Fact is a 40 ft lb will NOT go through 1 inch of any decent wood at 50 yards. Rotten chipboard, dodgy ply, wet hardboard, plasterboard, whatever you like has a chance, but saying 40ft/lb rapid will put them through an inch of board at 50yards, is meaningless. Just stick with the power figures, that's far more useful than any suggested penetration through a substance of unknown strength/integrity. No doubt some will go through this as well, its only 0.5" (12mm) steel. SteelPlate 001s.jpg Have a nice day! TezC 1 Posted March 2, 2016 Report Share Posted March 2, 2016 When i had my hw100kt the bisley magnums were my pellet of choice for hunting, I felt like a murderer not hunter, as for me that combo aided with digi rangefinder I felt as I couldn't miss. I had a mamba scope at the time with the scb reticle. 55yd rabbits all day long. There was another pellet that went well too think they were weihrauch either heavies or magnums both.177 Regards Tez Quote Link to post
