John-B 4
shouldn't bath ferrets really. it spoils their natural oils, mine enjoy a bath in nice fresh shavings or a run around the garden where they rub themselves in dust and soil. Quote Link to post
lurchers 2,974
dont use frontline or spot on on them.as the dog 1 kills cats so i wouldnt use it on the ferrets.tried and tested mate on a cat so forget that. Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Have you any data on it killing ferrets i would be interested in reading about that Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
Personal experience with a rabbit years ago and a neighbour used it on his ferret and next morning it was dead.Vet said its toxic to them? Not entirely sure why though.Never used it on anything but dogs since and cat fl for cats on the moggys. As i said the spray works and is reasonaly cheap.Duramytrex is good for clearing the hutch too its actually for pigeon lofts to keep bird lice at bay but appears to after a lot of years kill lice and fleas in ferrets hutch. Tis TM 8
My local agricultural merchants stock an "Anti Parasite Spot On" by the brand name of Beaphar. Treats rabbits, guinea's, ferrets and rats. It contains Ivermectin for the active ingredient. Its a bargain at £3.00 for four pipettes. If your ferret is 750g or under it only needs 1, so you have 4 months worth... Here's an article I found re: using frontline... http://www.redmap.co.uk/ferretsabout/html/facts.html seems a little extreme in the comment at the end- "It is difficult not to draw the conclusion that since there are safer treatments for fleas, ticks and more especially ear mites available, then Frontline should never be used on any animal, even on those for which it is licensed." but read for yourself and make of it what you will Quote Link to post
