Rory4 267 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 got 2 jills last week. 11 months old were fed just on dry. gave them baby pigeon gutted otherday they didnt touch it. yesterday gave them a just caught gutted young rabbit dog caught. they moved it but look this morning they didint eat any. thought would go for the meat naturally. or will it take time to get used to it? and should i skin it? cheers Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 If your worried about your ferrets going hungry untill they start on blood food, put in a little of each, a couple of bits of dry and a lump of rabbit, once they start on the rabbit, stop the dry. Quote Link to post

I usually freeze my rabs for at least 10 days before defrosting them (fully) before I feed them to the ferts. The freezing process kills any germs, bugs etc they might have which could be passed on to the ferts. However, when they hunt in the wild, they will catch fresh, guts in, and all quarry so it's a bit of a toss up. Do your best! HTH. Cheers, D. Quote Link to post
