flytie 1
They seem to like any bramble that has fresh growing tips here in Worcs. On a new permission of mine there is 3/4 acre corner patch that is nothing but grass, weeds and 2ft to 4ft bramble stems. I will ask round and pm you if I find out anything interesting. Fidgety 8
I've heard of "Deer lawns" purposely laid to attract deer, what species are planted in these? Quote Link to post
dicehorn 38
I've heard of "Deer lawns" purposely laid to attract deer, what species are planted in these? I have permission on an estate with a wood next to the old house. The deer lawn was made (as usual) by clearing out the trees in an area in the middle of the wood and sowing grass - hence deer lawn!! On another property I manage deer the previous owners in the 30's landscaped a bowling green in a wood complete with hut which is still standing - nowadays it is mainly grass with a few brambles and looks like a deer lawn. Many owners did not shoot the deer but just liked to have and see deer - status symbol - bit like a scaled down version of Woburn. Quote Link to post
