never herd about in dogs but in horses a white hoof was considered weaker than a black hoof there is little evidence to support this but i know a lot of older men and women who wouldn't buy a horse with white feet i personally think it an old wives tale i have an Arab with three white feet that has competed in endurance that doesn't even need shoes !!

I don't think it makes a difference, one of mine has all black pads and he gets stung and sore just as much as the one with white/pink pads.

I have had horses with white hooves also never caused any problems with or without shoes

Not surprised at that.. Terriers will always be the ones to notice nettles before Springers! Something to do with the Spaniels being stuck in 5th gear I reckon :D
