as usual there are the idiots that have to bring us down to a minority we as a country are backward at languages as we are that arrogant that we expect everyone else to speak english which most the time the people of this country have trouble speaking any way

Totally agree Al.

 

You get a rather more co-operative attitude from the French, Germans etc if you at least attempt to talk to them in their own language in their own country.

 

Mind, it does help if you've mastered English first :laugh:

Dutch, English and German ,and i do understand South African as it is Old dutch with influences from other languages

i think you mean afrikaans hey? south african could be zulu, xhosa, sesotho etc etc ;)

Your right, i meant Afrikaans ,a lot of different languages on the dark continent . :thumbs:

Me being a kraut , I obviously speak German. But having lived in Spain for a number of years I speak Spanish as well. Where I come from in Germany ( north west coast ) we usually speak " Platt" Fresian that is close to Dutch as you can get. Oh yes and a bit of English as well.

Michael,never have guessed you are German,your grammer and spelling is excellent..A credit to your education system

Our education system is very similar and I am sure nearly as good as your :rolleyes:
