bez 0
no not mated yet they just showing 1st signs of swelling Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
no not mated yet they just showing 1st signs of swelling Well they need to be fully swollen as a general rule before atempting to put them in with a hob, once the swellings been the same size for around a week then try them, the jill may not tollerate the hob if she isnt ready Quote Link to post
The one 8,598
Just take the hob out if they have been together all the time it might stress them out to seperate them they should be fine rearing each others kits Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Personally if i had 2 jills i would seperate them to give each jill there own space & just let them get on with it Quote Link to post
The one 8,598
Leave them together they help each other out ,one year i had three jills with kitts it looked funny as the last litter was a bit smaller than the first two Quote Link to post

andy s410c 63
Always seperated my jills when breeding them.Personally i think the jill needs that privacy of the first couple of weeks after the births but if you feel that they can rear young together give it a go. Quote Link to post
runforyourlife 361
Just seperate them pal, saves any worrying. The people telling you to keep them together arent going to replace any casualitys are they. It would be much safer pal. Quote Link to post
doddsy1970 9
The swelling will be full after about 1 month. My personal experience with leaving jills together is that it causes problems. I left my jills in the court to give birth and raise their young a couple of years ago but I found that some of the litters were eaten and the jills ended up fighting and treating the other jills as kits. The pregnancy last 40 days so i would split them about a week to ten days efore the due date. Quote Link to post

Exactly Vic, whats the point in leaving the hob with the jill if she isnt ready , all she ends up with is a sore scabby neck & a pissed off jill Quote Link to post
