Terrier man 38
Right lads iv got a bitch here shes about 18 weeks old and she keeps injuring her wrist f*****g about ... well about 2 weeks ago she did it and i thought it was a toe as it was swollen but turned out to be the wrist and toe.. anyway long story short brought her to the vet last saturday he said minor injury will come right in a week or so... gave me antibiotics and they finnished up today saw a slight difference in the bitch her leg was better and toe sorted.. i say slight as she still did the same f**k acting around when it was swollen as she did when it was right... just not putting full presure on it.. anyway this morning had a good look at her and she was spot on .. I thought perfect.. Then tonight about 7 oclock roaring in the yard went out she was limping about on the same leg again how she did it i dont know but more then likly that f**k acting around she does iv never seen a pup bounce on the one spot like this bitch... shes as mad as a f*****g brush ... What to do now is the question... do i just leave her to her own device and hope for the best or off down to the vet to take another chunk out of the wallet... Not really bothered about the money side of it once the bitch is right but not going to go pay when theres a chance it could well happen again next week... So have any of ye had this problem has it come right? what did ye do? Quote Link to post

So have any of ye had this problem has it come right? what did ye do? Sounds like the yets a wanker mate, the toe well go right but a wrist thats hole diffrent matter, the vet should of tolled you to keep the dog on the bed for 3 to 4 weeks with very short walks on the lead, also why did the vit give you antibiotics for a knocked up wrist and toe surly you would of been better off with some Anti-inflammatory to take the swelling down, there for easing pain on the joint or a combo of the 2. I used to run a greyhound kennel and race at hallgreen and perrybar and i was always getting wrist problems the way we got around it was a process called blistering. THIS LINK SHOULD HLEP YOU OUT http://www.grv.org.au/opencms/export/sites...rms/Unit_17.pdf please let me no if you need more help, also down load the pdf file its good to keep a reference. good luck lee Quote Link to post
DIGGIT 6
just a quick 1, also rub your lurcher down for 10 minutes befor and after running or a good fast walk around the block this warms them up and stops muscle pulls Quote Link to post

tdavepat 8
I know how you feel mate. One of my whippets is a f'ing header and he keeps hurting his elbow. I thought it a 'wrist' problem, my vet thought it a shoulder injury. I crate rested him for weeks and he kept hurting it in the house and f'ing about jumping around and play fighting with my dobermann bitch (what a fool). I got fed up with him hobbling about and took him to a greyhound specialist. He x rayed and diagnosed a broken elbow. He had a course of cartophen injections over 4 weeks and was crate rested and short lead walked for a further 6 weeks. He was just starting to run again and during this past fornight had caught his first rabbits for months. Last night he got in another scrape with the dobe and as I ran to stop them wrestling he yelped and looked at me again with his paw held up. To say I said f**k about 50 thousand times would be no exaggeration. :shout: I just wanted to saw his bloody shit leg off and be done with it. :realmad: Good luck with him but change your vet and get a decent diagnosis. Terrier man 38
Thanks for the replys lads... Digit the vet gave me Anti-inflammatory just never mentioned it... Her toe was swollen but wrist he said just strained... i also asked would i be better keeping her in a cage .. but he said with a toe injury and wrist injury your best off not in a cage as she will only do more damage in there jumping about then out in the run.. so iv come to a stage now where it is what do i do next... iv got a cage i can keep her in double the size of her but she wont stay still in the cage for any length of time as shes just that type of bitch ... only time she stops moving is when shes asleep . Really doing my head in now... The reason its geting to me as iv seen a good few dogs have th wrist at them... and its always intermitent one day they could run all day another the wrist is up so i dont want this to develop into that.. DIGGIT 6
just rest the dog mate, keep in the house for as long as you can try not to let her run around and if you need to take her out put the lead on it. ive sent you a pm. Edited February 8, 2009 by DIGGIT Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
The time for healing the vet gave you will be an approx time mate. It's like when you sprain your ankle every 5minutes you always seem to bang it. The dog obviously still feels some discomfort and being a pup with constant larking about is bound to knock it again. Keep her on the lead for exercise and in close confinement so it can heal fully. Just needs time and a wee bit of patience and I'm sure it'll be fine. Quote Link to post
