I did the National stalking certificate 10 years ago when i studied deer at college. The DSC replaces it. The main things to study were species recognition at different times of year, breeding seasons, lots on ballistics and calibre choice. Can't remember much more!! You can buy the manuel before you do the course. All they will do is go through it on the course. If you have read it before than you will have a better chance. Quote Link to post
OldNog 432
I passed mine last year. It will be easier than you think i bet. Just read up one each deer species and learn everything you can about their biology and ecology and then read up on the firearms side of things Its all multiple choice so even if your not 100% sure of the answer, you might just remember it when you see some of the other daft choices Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
I did the DMQ level 1 +2, 10 years ago, same thing though... Old Nog sums it up fairly well, all info on all six deer species you can get, you also do a slide show, so make sure your identification skills are good. Good luck Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
I paid an extra £25 for the DSC manual and it was well worth it. Very Interesting read Quote Link to post

It gets sent out by the training establishemnt with which you register, and normally after you have paid a deposit. That is unless you only register for the exam, not the training. The BASC only moderate the exam results and send the certificate out. Quote Link to post
