furdy 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 Oh no I hear everyone cry, not another one of these to read. Well, oh no I'm thinking, not another one of these to write!!!! I have to confess, this is a bit of a return to hunting for me, having done nothing for the last 12 years apart from the odd plink with other peoples airguns. I started off shooting as a junior with christchurch gun club, main concentration was on long range pistol shooting, where I won a few county trophies and competed at bisley once. As there was no junior section I was on equal terms with all that came and manged a top quarter placing. Then, along came girls, shooting career was over......!!!! I started to become interested in lurchers, terriers, ferrets etc and during the following years had some fantastic times and met some great people. I've been lucky enough to own and work some great dogs, my particular passion being runnings dogs.. Where I'm at now is........I have a 17 ft fishing boat on the south coast, so this has become my main focus, I still enjoy the odd session for carp, or on the river trotting a float, grayling being a favourite. I have a 60 acre shoot that is mainly rabbits, I enjoy an occasional day out with my air rifle, nothing exciting, just a modified springer..!!!! And I'm seriously considering another running dog, altough what there is left to chase now this ridiculous government has had its way.....I suppose there is the hope that things will one day return to normality, although when you consider that the other only viable option of government done a similar thing over the banning of handguns, I wont be holding my breath.... I'm a member of a couple of other forums, one dedicated to fishing, the other to countryways, and as usual I'll extend the invitation for a day out on the boat to any who fancy it......I'm always keen for the odd day ferreting if any of you fancy some company......
