Brimmer 220
After being stuck in all week, looking at this site, bored out of my head, I called the old chap and asked him if he wanted to go out today. He jumped at the chance, he had been stuck in watching Judge Judy and Jeremy kyle all week as his traps were froze in the ground. He asked me where I wanted to go, so gave him the options, High ground/Low ground. (The high ground is more action with the dog running a bit / The low ground is steady with mainly ferreting.) Daft old git chose the high ground and he had to walk again! Getting up there, and found the snow was still there from earlier in the week. Took the old dog Toddy today, he's 9 yrs old now, so he's a bit steadier on some of the tricky stuff. He's not got the brain of the young dogs to be honest, or has he ever had the drive of them, but he's still a usefull dog. Because of this you can get away with taking him anywhere without him getting smashed up! Took the two smaller hobs today, we had to net up anyway, so may as well have a few bolt. (Still have to dig to the stubborn one's, but this pair see the job through without question.) It was slow cold progress to be honest, just picking one up every warren nearly, and setting and pulling the nets was taking time just for the odd rabbit. The cold had got into the old man by this time and the mist came in also, he kept trying to make me go in the direction of the truck, but I wanted to go further. In the end I gave in, and said to him we'd head back, never seen him move as quick! Off like a shot! Then the dog marked, he cursed the dog, but we netted up again and got on with it. One bolted but then the usual scenario. 3 and a half footer! I told him to set off back and Id catch him up. (Didn't take long!) Tough day but still ok. Ended up with 19. Out on the low land tommorow, going to try out the 2 jills from the late litter. Quote Link to post

No mate, only about 12 digs today. Hard to get a % on that old dog, when you breed lurcher to lurcher so many times you cannot tell whats been put into him. I know of at least 3 generations on our side, all collie greys, then put over other lurcher bitches. Most have been collie grey, but I suppose somewhere, other blood could be in there. Looking at him at a guess i'd say probs quarter collie, but who can tell. Quote Link to post

Brimmer 220
AYE WELL DONE THERE MUST BE PLENTY OF BUNNIES THERE YOU GET BIG BAGS EVERYTIME I wish they were big bags! 20 ish is just ok, would like to be in the 30's everytime to be honest, thats a decent average. The bigger bags are when you start hitting the 60 plus with one team. Not been there this year, 56 is the best. Quote Link to post
