Stubby's ferrets

Recommended Posts

Stubby, took the two ferrets out that i had off you, over the last 3 days and they worked really well, the nippy one has got better and stopped nipping but when i tried to collar her up she done me twice, plenty of blood, i just put it down th the way i was holding her when i was fitting the collar though. They and my other one don't get on at all well hopefully they'll settle eventually.

also, as stated, practising with the collars at home, makes yourself better at putting collars on, I can remember the first few times I put collars on ferts, my hands were shaking, being fiddly to do up, and every time the fert looked at me, I thought it was going to bite :icon_redface:

it helps if you hold both front paws when puting a collar on, as it saves collaring a foot too, but once the ferts are used to collars, they know, collars mean rabbits, and are good as gold, letting me put on collars, tightly of course

Hi All

If you have a ferret that bites while putting collars on you need handle themmore confidentley however you spell it. Some ferrets get a bit like this if they know you are a bit twitchy with them.

My opinion is more handling on a daily basis and practice putting collars on even when your not going ferreting to build up your and your ferrets confidence is a good idea.

Casing point so of the people i work with though good at ferreting are still shit a collaring up, and i get landed with the job everytime with excuse like that one bites me or i don't know whether i have put the collars on tight enough LOL

Once you have a vetrian ferret they let you put the collars on with no fuss because they know the funs is about to start........

Regards Roger.

PS Stubby the Silvers you sold me are really good though they do p**s around at the holes but thats an age thing.

Sometimes putting the end of the collar in the buckle, then slipping the collar over the ferrets head can make things a little easier, your fingers are not directly next to the 'Sharp End' then.
