Rhodey 96
Both my two jills have 2 patches of hair missing in exactly the same places. Is this normal or do they need vet etc It's hard to make it out but one patch missing either side of the brown line running up there stomaches. Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
Do you feed them eggs? if so, this can cause hair loss in ferrets if fed eggs to often Quote Link to post
dh90 6
took this off the illments page Q- My ferret is moulting A- the best thing you can do here is monitor the fur loss, take photos to put on the forum and let everyone have a look, if the hair loss is bileteral (its in the same places on both sides of the ferrets body) then it is a symptom of adrenal disease, and the best person to discuss the options for adrenal with is a good vet. if its just abald tail its simply called rats tail and can happen to any ferret and is nothing to worry about. dont no whether it helps just when it said about it being in the same places both sides of the ferret Quote Link to post

Rhodey 96
Thanks for all the help, i've decided to put them on a diet as from tommorrow. Spoke to Mr Tea Pot tonight and he said I'm feeding them too much. I put a 1/3 rd of a rabbit in at night in the morning there is no trace of it not even abit of bone. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Its probably something really silly like getting in & out of the bedding area through a pop hole & its where the furs rubbed away simmilar to a babys head when they loose the hair on the back from laying flat when there tiny ( before someone sayes it no i dont mean human babys live in boxes with pop holes) Quote Link to post

I am charging you for that advice as well . No wonder you're ferret box was heavy, like carring a breeze block with them to in it . Just stick to what i said and you should be fine.Just one thing just check their sleeping compartment they may not be eating all of it but storing it in the nest box, which is not much trouble now but in summer the meat will attract flies and you will get maggots Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
My hobs just the same, ballder than Bennie Hills sidekick that gets slapped on the head. Quote Link to post
