New Gun

Recommended Posts

Hello,

3 years ago I brought a BSA Comet which was a lovely little rifle but in hindsight probably would have brought something a little bit better built.

I have claimed many rabbits, pigeons, squirells, pheseants etc etc. But now the barrel is loose and the power has slowly declined to a handsome 4ft/lbs :icon_eek: Also right about the time i started to get really good with it it started dropping as above. I think it is time to invest in a new gun. :notworthy:

I have always gone for Break barrel rifles due to their simplicity and classic touch and have never even given PCP's a thought.

But now i am thinking about it :tongue2:

I have a £400 budget.

If i go with a spring i will be buying a new scope (Walther 3-9X56 IR), one piece mounts and a sling. So the actual gun budget will be : £260

I have no idea about pcp but will also need charging equipment :hmm:

Any help ?

i would leave that scope and sling.

buy a used combo pcp or you may be lucky and get a bsa ultra and pump for 260.

could buy a new ultra cheap scope and pump for 400 or use the scope off your old gun?

Once you try a PCP there will be no stopping you...do whatever you need to lay your hands on one..it's another world you could not believe if you are a springer owner!

ive seen them :) but i don't know if i can be bothered with having to worry about dust and water and running out of air.

Love just breaking the barrel

you fill it up takes 5 min and you get 200 shots off one fill. all i do with my s400 is draw the bolt back insert pellet and shot you cant here it. but the s410 loads it self lol

HW97 is a well rated gun, although i have never used one myself.

Don't dismiss pcp's, how many shots do you take on a day out?

I have a HW100t now, i bought the gun, a spare air cylinder, pump, hawk 3-9x44 sight, gun bag, lamp and laser and 5 tins of pellets for £450, and it was all as new, so there are some good second hand deals out there.

And the gun is the mutts nuts, best i've ever owned. It's better than me.

I'd at least try out a pcp, if you don't like them, then go for your springer.

Good luck with your choice
