Yes we will probably still pay.. but its almost charging because they know you will go anyway... If they are short on money they should tell us..Not charge us without explanation???

Just ask why there charging, local school did discos all year & it enabled the school to give the kids an easter egg & put on a christmas tea for the whole school . saving you tearing your hair out thinking of summat to sent the kids with

i would have paid a couple of quid to see my lad in the school play, i expect the moneys for funds so the kids benefit from extra stuff

If I'm donating for extra gear for the school... computers, sports kits, etc... I'd write a cheque out with a zero or two added. I don't mind that.

But if I'm shelling out for the electric bill, or the teachers overtime for having the play out of hours, then why the f**k am I paying more tax than ever before?

If schools are funded from our taxation then we shouldn't be charged admission for something we've already paid for.

Not singling you out Kay, just that you had the quote that was twisting my knickers. Extras is one thing but with the black hole that is the local authority we should be demanding far more for our hard earned. ;)

Well i wouldnt be overly pleased if it was for something like electricity , but they have to account for everthing they spend & receive so asking to see the schools accounts is one option

Very true CJ, but I think they get given a budget and so the more the PTA/parents can do, the more facilities, equipment, trips, extras the kids get........sad but true.

If they cant raise money through the PTA/donations......then it has to come out of the capital budget and other stuff then suffers!!

You remember good old England mate...........pay, pay and pay again!!

you never know, they might have explained the ticket cost to your kid, and the kid said "I don't know" when quizzed by you ...

I would have paid to see my kid in a play, but would have liked to know why
