Headshot08 36
Hello there, soon i am looking to get my first lurcher this comes the question of can a good lurcher be kept indoors or does the outdoors make a better dog? i ask this because i will be keeping my dog inside which i will want to get a puppie so it can socialize with everything in my house. mackem 29,522
Dont get a beddie cross, they hog the sofa, hoover everything from the cats bowl, and smell noxiously foetid when theres a warm draught in the room Quote Link to post
T78 4
no reason why they can't be kept indoors and i imagine they'd make decent in house dogs. a few mates have them indoors with no problems. i personally prefer them outside. Quote Link to post

00taz11 39
i keep mine outside cause i was told it will make them harder when working in cold conditions Quote Link to post
mackem 29,522
Another thing about beddies, they cant guard for toffee, had a full packet of chocolate-Hobnobs nicked a few months or so ago, left them on the coffee table, dog kipping behind the sofa, came back an hour or so later biccies gone and the dog now kipping on the chair Biscuit-burglars had obviously struck then left Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Kept my lurcher inside, and she used to go mental in snow, when I get her replacement, it will live in the house, if I had more than one, they would be kept outside. Quote Link to post
rabbit tourmentor 29
most of my dogs have been kept indoors and some outdoors to be honest it doesent make a difernce they only problem i have with dogs indoors is they make such a mess with there hair everywere id rather keep them outside and have a tidyer house even though i spend most of my time outside Quote Link to post
Headshot08 36
Would it be wiser to get a smooth haired dog for the house then? i always thought that a working dog was ment to be kept outside and they would then know their place under master and do not get to soft inside and pick up bad habits?
