A DAY OUT WITH A HARD BLOOD

chicky came up today for his weekly ferreting fix and decided to bring his hardblood bitch ''blue'' along, she is normally kept for those big strong rabbits that like to run ... she has endless stamina and a fantastic nose wich makes her a very good hunting up type of working dog ... she has done a bit of ferreting but not much so chicky decided to bring her along and see how she whent ... she took to it like a duck to water and grasped the idea quickly .......

 

the day started off well with the ferrets working well and the rabbits flying out of the warrens and before lunch we had 20 odd rabbits in the truck ... we stopped for a nice ploughmans lunch curtousy of chickys missus ... but when we started the afternoon session a bitterly cold wind came howling in from the north and this always makes bolting difficult ... after a few digs we decided to pack away the nets and let the dogs have a few runs on some bolters ..........

BECAUSE OF THE WIND WE HAD TO DIG A FEW (the positions you get in for a rabbit) .........

 

 

 

WE THEN BOLTED A FEW FOR THE DOGS ..........

 

 

 

 

 

AND TRUE TO FORM TEGAN GIVES UP HER CATCH ............

 

 

 

 

IS IT A BIRD ? IS IT A PLANE ? ...........

How old is Blue? she looks abit grey around the muzzle, and how old is Tegan now?, i can remember her as a puppy

 

the blue bitch is around 5 and tegan was 2 last month ..........

not knocking you ,but did some one take pot shots at blue with a paint ball gun ,because in pics 8 and 10 she looks diferent.
