Gamest breed?..

Recommended Posts

i guess if you look at it when they had airedale terriers, the ones that would grab a lion or whatever would get killed, therefore not bred off, so either by accident, or genetic selection(even if it was out of the human hands) you would expect the airedales not to hunt them in that way

i would say that most dogs know when they are out classed and in that situation would turn into a bayer otherwise they would turn in to a dead dog ,also dont forget that when the dogs put pressure on to a lion or bear they would look for somewhere safe to be like up a tree what does the dog do then stayes at the bottom of the tree and bays i dont think that this says the dogs are not hard to me it would say smart ,a friend of a friend in the u.s. had a lion that went for is dogs it killed 5 dogs and only left him 2 to finish his season i know that since i have had airedales it has surrprised me how smart these dogs are we talk of dogs that can sit and lean by looking at other dogs these dogs look and lean like you would not believe ,i think the way the airedale works to me is like a boxer he knows what he wants the out come to be and will spar a little till it see's the right moment and when he see's it he go's in for the killer punch

.....

again one offs..to consistantly breed gameness is what this threads about not one in a hundred dogs, once the game one in a million dog is lost so is its gameness,as theese never go on to produce dogs as game...

a season to 70-80+ when i was younger me and a mate used to take in exess of 150 foxes a season, theres only a certain type of canine that can throw this into breeding, pure greyhounds, salukis and some of the other commonly used breeds dont cut it,collies being some of em,and i mean consistently guys....

The saluki bitch has taken close to a hundred in a season I would imagine very few salukis have been tested for fox killing ability or gameness mainly being used for filling the freezer or coursing.3 or 4 foxes a night wouldnt be a problem in my area if you put a bit of effort in.

it wouldnt be a problem to do it...ok,but if they could dont you think all the lads that have bull bred dogs etc wouldnt of even bothered with the breeding, answer is the salukis cant do it,your saluki bitch is a credit to you but a one off,the reason most guys go into the bull cross bred dog is nothing else will do for consistency....

u all know what i think is the gamest is but if its any thing else i would say the wheaton after that id say the bedlinton if its the rilinton line as most of the bedlintons are showie bambi shit but if u get a nice working rilinton line put across a good greyhound ud have some half tidy dogs thats only my opinion as every ones different as iv got a german wired hair pointer which kills foxes no prob and is doing well on all quarry but iv not put him to a breeding program yet to vouch for that type of breed but iv heard that theyre half tidy dogs aswell put across a greyhound

the german wire haired pointer is a very underestimated dog turk very game more game than people think they might be,also the german weimeraner again a very dominant strong willed canine,id like to see more of them being used but i doubt they will be,the bull cross is just consitently better and and made for the job.....

i agree spot on mate :good:

and this is one of the reasons i want a cross of this sort added to the fact that if i have a typical looking lurcher(associated with gypsys with the landowners i know!) then i won't be ale to take it with me all over.....as i'm only having one dog and am in a position to take it to work with me etc so i need a non typical looking dog and a pointer cross i think would double of to the shooting aspect of my life/work very well!!!!

Is that the B&T owned buy your mate B.....?

She looks a great type mate...maybe if he puts her to a Grey, he would sell us a pup?..

Kye,..

I think he is considering putting a decent Grew over her.
