thatmusicman 0
We've only ever used russells and borders so couldn't comment on anything else, but they're both good for bushing. The russells aren't so keen on the real thick cover, I would presume because their coats and skin aren't so thick. The borders have got elephant skin and are double coated and will crash through any brambles, stingers, whatever really. The longer legged russells tend to hang around the edge of the cover following the other dogs yips when in a big pack, much to the annoyance of their owners, but this tends to be a good thing as they're the faster dogs more likely to catch the prey. Their owners also report that when out on their own or in 3's and 4's these dogs that hang out in a big pack, are much more keen to crash the hedges themselves. Just shows the evolution of the pack way of thinking, and how they learn to work in a way most likely to catch what they're hunting. Quote Link to post
Dave C 63
I have a Border x Lakeland who will run through anything to catch the bunny and just got a Beagle/Basset x Cocker only 14" and proving to be an excelent bushing dog. Dave. Quote Link to post
scent 509
i use txo lakiexpatt and a lakiexrussell for bushing all three give tongue so that kinda helps but the only drawback is the three of them go to ground aswell Quote Link to post
